The Bring Back Kayte Christensen Page

Putting my money where my mouth is, I have started a Bring Back Kayte Christensen page on facebook. This is a project I am dead serious about. I am of course notorious for rarely respecting the idiots routinely thrown out there as basketball analysts because I think I am smarter than they are. Well, I respected Kayte Christensen. Even when I disagreed with her, her points were well thought out and well argued, and displayed an advanced understanding of the game of basketball. I think she was easily the best basketball analyst the Kings have had in the last decade at least (ironically her main competition on that point would be fellow former WNBAer Kara Lawson, also a bright basketball mind who just lacked the charisma). The Maloofs canning Kayte was just one more confirmation of that family's stupidity and insipidity. Having none themselves, they wouldn't know talent if it hit them on the head.

This is the starter post I added to the BBKC page this morning:

Kayte Christensen served as a pregame and halftime basketball analyst for the Sacramento Kings from 2007-2009, and a sideline reporter (which was frankly beneath her abilities) in 2010. She was then let go by the Maloofs, presumably for being too smart, and replaced by a bunch of washed up old guys from L.A. as the Maloofs prepared to pivot to Anaheim. Well, the Maloofs are gone, as are all their relocation schemes, and so now its time for the franchise to right an old wrong and bring back the best basketball analyst the Kings have had in many a year. Spread the word.

If you feel the same, then come on out to the page, give us a like, leave a message of support, join as a friend, and most of all spread the word. This isn't about me, its not about KF, its something for all the benefit of all Kings fans. Let's spread the word and see if the new ownership eventually hears and listens. If they love smarts as much as they claim they do, they'll love Kayte.

I "Liked" also but got out ahead and did it yesterday. Who knows what one little page on Facebook can accomplish? I think we all learned that the energy of Mike and CD helped with the team so why shouldn't fans have a more direct say so as to who we want to listen to?

In all seriousness, and I know you were just joking, she really does deserve the job regardless of her appearance. She knows her stuff and is good in front of the camera. Of course, it doesn't hurt that she's easy on the eye, but that's second to her basketball knowledge.

The thing I loved about her is that she was not only drop dead gorgeous but, like Bricklayer pointed out, she was terrific as a basketball analyst. So they fired her and hired another good looking girl who had absolutely no clue what she was doing (I don't remember her name).

I can't help but notice that nobody is petitioning for Koz to reprise his role alongside Kayte.

I think Kozimor was (and is) likable enough but his sports knowledge always seemed surprisingly scant for a guy who made his living doing sports talk radio. So the question becomes, if KC comes back, who does she do the pre/half/post game updates with? I wouldn't want it to be Jerry or Grant (if they are retained) and there's no one else currently involved in the telecasts that I think would make an acceptable partner. Koz would be an upgrade to any of them and I still recall wanting him to stop talking so I could get real analysis from Kayte.

Like Brick, I didn't always agree with her, but I never got the "why am I watching this, I have a better handle on things than you" vibe while watching her. It was always more along the lines of, "that's an interesting way of looking at it"

Nice nice. But its really not about me or about a gesture. I legitimately think she's a great analyst. I also legitimately think that if the new owners were somehow convinced to take a look at the old tapes of her, they would see that she's a great analyst, and an attractive one if that adds anything for them. Kayte absolutely deserves to hear it, and it is a compliment. But this isn't a belated thank you Kayte movement -- I want to get the issue in front of somebody in ownership and hve them legitimately consider it.
