Thank you JT!

King Baller

All-Star
The Kings played great vs. the Knickerbockers. Monster game by Donte, loved the blocked shots! Hawes got it done early and Tyreke almost had a triple double on a bad ankle.

For me the highlight of the night was the professional attitude JT displayed when a foul was called on him:) On the first 4 he just accepted it and moved on. At number 5 there was some conversation but none of the arm waving hysterics from previous games. Continue this behavior, watch the game films, learn what the refs call and what they don't call and establish yourself as a veteran then you will get the referees respect.

Thanks,
KB

I didn't want to point this out. If you watch that game again during that foul Donte pats JT on the head. If you look at it Donte is clearly as tall or 1 inch taller than JT.

I think JT's good behavior was more a result of us winning by 10+ the entire game. If it were tied, or we were down by 5-10, I'm pretty sure the hysterics would still be there. I'm not trying to be a downer, but winning does do wonders for the attitude.

This thread scared me. When I saw a "Thank you JT" thread after a game where his play didn't warrant much thanks, I was expecting to see a trade of some sorts. That's a relief :p

But whether we were winning or not, hopefully he starts to get in the habit of accepting the calls made against him.

Nope, when they stand together during the anthem and intros JT is at least 1 in or 2 taller and Hawes is the same over JT.

It could have been your angle.

First I'll say that its impossible to tell on television just how tall someone is. I know I try all the time to find just the right angle. The problem is that there is no depth perception on television. You don't know the angle the television camera is shooting from. High, low etc. I've seen shots where one player looked two inches taller and in the next shot looked two inches shorter. Regardless, I still find myself doing it.

That aside, I agree that Thompson needs to recreate his image with the Ref's. Its OK to go and talk to them on the sideline and ask what you did wrong. Its quite another to show them up on the court. Even if you don't mean to and its just an emotional reaction, the outcome is still the same.

Thompson is going through another learning curve right now. The NBA giveth, and It taketh away. In other words, they find out what your good at and then prevent you from doing it. Thus you have to adjust your game. What might have worked last year, isn't working this year. Last year Thompson was seldom doubled. This year their doubling him every time he touches the ball. Their also doubling him from his blind side, and when he turns baseline, he's turning right into the double. Resulting in a turnover or a blocked shot too many times. He needs to be able to read the double and he also should be getting verbal help from his teammates.

Thats why I suggested he set up a little futher from the basket and be facing the basket. He has a good little jumper to keep the defense honest. He should make that his primary weapon and then make his post moves off of that when they don't double or when his defender plays up on him.

He's going over a little bump in the road right now. But he'll be OK. He's only in his second year.

yeah, um...no.

KG4 and I were at the game last night and while JT's actions might - and I repeat MIGHT - have been a tad better, he's still got a long, long way to go. There may not have been arm-waving hysterics on view for the TV audience but there were still multiple occasions where his attitude was petulant at best and more than a little irritating.

I want JT to do well. I respect his game and his potential but I personally am not going to cut him any slack when it comes to the attitude he's displayed about the officials.

One thing they probably don't show on TV is Nocioni's professional attitude. He goes over and shakes hands with each of the officials prior to the game.

JT has a lot going for him but him not acting like a spoiled child throwing himself on the floor in one instance is not grounds for praise, IMHO.

yea good job last night jt, I only saw him really complain after his first foul. and the rest he just kinda stared at the refs. Its a step in the right direction. At least he understands.

Hey, JT aside, what a great game to be at. I'm envious! :)
