Thank You Jimmer

It's really too bad that it couldn't have happened with Tyreke. I blame that on short-sightedness of Smart and the Maloofs (and a little bit on Westphal for effing up with Cousins.)

Yah I believe that Evans would have been good for Jimmer. Anyway, Good luck again Jimmer! I hope you make someone's roster and light it up!

Best of luck Jimmer. Thanks for some good times, not enough for either of us. You were as advertised but sorry for the poor treatment past couple of years. Hope you get with a good playoff team and can help.

With Felton out (DNP-gun) NYK is surely an option. Jimmer played well there in one of his last Kings games, plus he'd be going "home". Will be interesting to see these ex-Kings playing in the playoffs this year: Toronto crew, MT in Brook, and now Jimmer...somewhere.

Don't worry, I'm sure many Jimmer fans will be back to point out every good game he has going forward.

And if they do, they deserve to be mocked.

It's not the Kings fault that he didn't thrive here. Yes, to a large extent he was a victim of his own collegiate success and the unrealistic expectations of an ownership group more concerned with maintaining a lavish lifestyle than running a competent, well, anything. Sacramento wasn't a good long-term fit, but let's not pretend that any future games where he scores 25 points are indicative of a problem with the Kings. The team still has a bright future with a good owner and one of the better young head coaches in the league. Any improvements in Jimmer's weak areas this year(particularly defense), I put at the feet of Malone and the coaching staff.

I know it's an option, but I really hope he doesn't end up there. The organization is in full meltdown mode with a rebuild that is going on. That locker room is poison and the odds of him pulling a Jeremy Lin and miracling the Knicks back into the playoff picture are near zero.

Good luck, Jimmer, wherever you land. I loved watching you go out on a high note with your play in MSG. I hope some of your fans - including but not limited to treach1976 and Npliam - come around once in a while.

Again, good luck! I'm glad I bought your jersey. :)

If there was one thing I did appreciate about Jimmer is that no matter what his limitations were he tried everytime and for that I can thank him and wish him the best something I could not do for that other SG.

Didn't realize the Knicks were 6 games out of the playoffs. Man, there still could be some crazy Jimmermania in NYC. But you're right, I don't wish that on him with their current circumstances.

Had a trade happened earlier in the season, it would have made more sense. Without exaggeration, Jimmer is probably a better defender, both man and team, than any guard on that roster. That's not to praise Jimmer, that's a huge knock on their backcourt.

Last year, the Knicks had success at times in two ways. 1) Felton and Chandler's pick an rolls were very effective, leading to breakdowns and either a shot at the rim or a kickout to one of the open shooters on the perimeter. 2) Carmelo's isolation plays leading to double-teams and a kickout and an open shot on the perimeter.

The absence of Jason Kidd this year has been dramatic. The ball just stops with Carmelo and J.R. Smith. Because of that, Felton is getting fewer open looks, but taking the shots anyways because he's essentially kind of a dumb player. Between the regression of a lot of key guys on the team and the injuries to Chandler and Bargnani (who was surprisingly okay on both ends of the floor for the Knicks early on), there is just no hope in the Big Apple, and they owe this year's pick to the Nuggets, so being bad is just BAAAAAD.

It's all just gravy to me because I kind of hate all New York teams out of principle.

Jimmer,

It's only going to get better. You now have the opportunity to join any team in the league and find the best fit for you. I'm sure you'll make the best of the opportunity. We all appreciate your work ethic and wish you the the very best. You're a class act.

Man... just when I make an account to help show what a rather objective Jimmer fan is like.
Oh well. Even tho I did just make the account, I have been lurking and reading your opinions and analysis of your Kings and, of course, Jimmer for almost 2 years.
So, thanks for that... and GO KINGS !!!

Jimmer had grown on me over these years. I'm sure at the minimum he'll be one of those journey men shooter/scorers off the bench that playoff teams go for.

Do people think NBA players read these boards?
I remember several members of Kevin Martin's family were members/lurkers here.

We take all kinds. Those still living in the BYU years, those that wouldn't trade him unless the coming back offer was Kevin Durant and a pick, and the "rather objective" fans like you and some others...
We meet on Thursdays just outside of the restraining order boundary the lovely Sacramento police force has identified for us (this is a joke in the case of any true crazies looking to meet up).

First, Happy Birthday Jimmer! Ironic that this happens on your birthday. I liked Jimmer, and I've always felt that he was misused. Not by the current administration, but the prior one. I agree, that if he had a chance to play along side Tyreke, everything might have turned out differently. But Smart in his eternal wisdom, decided that Tyreke was a SF. Jimmer has been very professional through it all. I wish him all the luck in the world. Just keep working hard and you'll find your spot in the NBA. Go Jimmer!

Please PM me with more details.
If this is the group that meets outside the police tape 500' from Jimmer's house (I assume this is the boundary you're referring to) then count me in! Some serious hotties attend that group.

Also, if the buyout isn't completely finalized today then, will Jimmer still be suited up on the bench?

I feel bad for Jimmer. He improved so much this season and showed he could be a decent 3rd PG and even went off in the last game he had significant minutes for us. Thanks Jimmer and good luck in the future.

o_Oo_Oo_O

There's a slightly better chance that Shaquille O'Neal will be suited up and on the bench.

I know its not likely but, if the buyout isn't complete then he would still technically be under contract.
And why not? Would give the fans a chance to say thanks, good riddance, adios or whatever

Disregarding the fact that it's an act which is completely without precedent, I don't think that it would send the feel-good message that you seem to think it would.

Would probably do the opposite. Distraction for the team and the crowd that should be focused on beating the effing Rockets.

I think his teammates genuinely like the kid. Goodbyes are never pleasant especially when you know he's going to be playing in another jersey shortly.

There's nothing big about turning twenty-five, other than no longer having to eat it on the insurance for a rental car. But, I somehow doubt that was a concern of his.

I'm glad the organization did this. It's just a classy thing to do and I applaud management for it.

Best of luck Jimmer! I sincerely hope that you find a good spot somewhere in the league. I'd love it if you joined the Spurs, just to see your development under the best coach in the league. Thanks for being a solid pro, a class act and I'll miss rooting for you on this team.

I'm sorry, but, while I fully recognize that Jimmer isn't the second coming of Steve Nash, this move, along with all the other crappy moves made by PDA, has me really questioning the future of this organization.

Jimmer doesn't fit into the organization's long term plan because why? Because he isn't a great defender? Because he can't create his own shot? Guess what PDA. Neither can most the player's you've went out of your way to get this year. Jimmer has two skills that pretty much nobody else on the team has exhibited. He can shoot the ball and he's a willing passer. But the Kings seem to believe they can't use those skills. Great.

Watching the team's defense, or lack thereof, tonight makes the "Jimmer doesn't play because his defense sucks" reasoning looks absolutely idiotic. If the entire team is going to play ole' defense, why not at least put players on the floor that can actually shoot the ball and is willing to pass to the occasional open man?

To be clear, my angst isn't really over Jimmer leaving the team. It's about all the reasons we've heard why he primarily sits on the bench game in and game out. My gripe is, why do the others get a free pass on playing no defense and not passing the ball?

Furthermore, PDA has made some terribly questionable moves, most of which make little to no sense. Acquiring Rudy Gay is the only good move he's made and that guy might very well opt out and leave the team in a few months. Every other move PDA has made has been poor, beginning with the signing of Carl Landry.

I really do not understand what the direction of this franchise is or what they are trying to accomplish. But, circling back to my original point, I don't want to hear bogus reasons about why Jimmer Fredette couldn't get PT this year when every other player is guilty of the same shortcomings, except that they can't shoot a lick and rarely look to pass the ball. I prefer players that at least try to play defense and are willing passers on offense.

This team is a lost cause right now.
