Terrence Williams should be our SF.

I like Terrence, but I don't think he is the answer at SF for us. I like the energy and playmaking he brought to the bench unit while he was here, and I think that is a good role for him right now. It's not just about size .. I don't care what the numbers tell me, he doesn't LOOK like a small forward. Tyreke is bigger than him in every way, and under a scenario where Terrence / Evans / Thomas are starting together, Evans is still going to end up guarding the opposing teams SF, and I don't want that. We need a small forward who is bigger than Tyreke Evans, or someone who has a substantial track record at that position (Hello Iggy).

Terrence and Jimmer work well together on the bench unit. Twill can really help bench playmaking and ball handling - two things Jimmer struggled with last season. He can also pick up the slack on defense and help Jimmer out on that end by guarding the better offensive guard. I like those two together a lot.
 
The OP's original premise has the charm of being realistic, we can easily sign everyone involved. It's the same kind of thinking that led me to suggest the lineup with Outlaw in place of Williams. Out law isn't nearly as talented a BB player as Willians but he is probably a better choice at SF. We may get one or both of these lineups by default.

Williams is 6'6.25" in shoes, with a 6'8" wingspan. Gilchrist is 6'7.50" in shoes, with a 6'10" wingspan. I go by a players height in shoes, since they don't play in their barefeet.
 
I'd prefer to see TWill starting in the backcourt with Tyreke and Kirilenko (or someone else acquired by trading Thorton) starting at SF.

I love both players, but having a backcourt that shot 28 of 126 for 3 (22.2%) last year isn't going to take us far. A better option would be to combine a slasher (e.g. Tyreke or Williams) and a shooter (e.g. Thornton, IT or Jimmer).

If you ask me, our best potential backcourt pairing is really Jimmer and Tyreke, and that's pretty much what everyone was hoping for. I hope Jimmer comes back and impresses me this coming season.
 
Jimmer and Tyreke? We'd score 80 points a game. Jimmer runs in circles for most of the shot clock and Tyreke stands in the same spot. Besides, so far IT can shoot 3's as well as Jimmer and that's about all that Jimmer brings to the table. Would much rather have IT starting since he can do everything else 10x better than Jimmer.

I hate that argument. Yeah, they play in shoes, but they don't always play in the shoes they're measured in.
 
T-Will has all the skills to play SF. The biggest drawback is that he's an inconsistent outside shooter from the 3 position, so if you play him and Tyreke that could pose some problems with teams cheating in the paint. The size thing is way overblown. He plays bigger than a lot of 6'7" SFs in the league, and that's all I care about. The nice thing about Williams is that at the 3 he's definitely an above average ballhandler, so if you do have IT, Tyreke and Williams you have a top-notch ball handling team. They could really move the ball with that lineup, and have a very athletic team with T-Rob in there.

Teams that never run zone would use it on the Kings. Two shooting guards that can't shoot doesn't make the best backcourt.

I agree that backcourt shooting problem will be there and the conclusion from the post, but this is such misuse of statistics I had to reply.

Typical example of skewed stats where significantly larger sample size of poor shooting of one guy (Reke) is piled up on the very small sample of the other guy (TW) to make the other guy look worse than he actually is.
 
Our defense isn't good enough to have a Williams/Evans back court that would only average about 85-90 ppg.. Maybe if our defense was any good we could do that but not right now. We would lose almost every game.

chicken and egg however, since the mian reason FOR a Reke/TWill backcourt would be to improve the defense. Not mind you that i think its at all a likely pairing, aside from the excellent minutes they had together as the season wore down.

He is a FA and we didn't sign him. We have no cap space to sidn him. I suspect his personality had something to do with the decision as he has been a problem.
 
Terrence Williams. Would like to hmave him on the team but he is not what we need at SF. Not an outside shooter and not tall enough.

First, were there any "personality problems" while playing for the Kings? I don't recall any, but I'd like to know if there were issues that I missed (or forgot).
Second, why is Terrance Williams not listed among the NBA's free agents for 2012? (NBA.com's Free Agent Tracker)
 
I think Petrie will leave his options open - to sign a TWill or Jackson - until he has to give up looking for a trading match where he can prune some position and contract excesses. A waiting game.

Think that could likely be the case.

For what its worth, and its nto worth much after all these years, but once upon a time Petrie's biggest moves often came in late August long after the free agency frenzy had died down.

We didn't have Westphal to announce player's problems so there is no way of knowing for sure. What IS known is that the team he was with previously dumped him because he was a pain in the rear. I can't answer your second question. Address it elsewhere.

Saw on some Laker boards that he may be signing with the lakers as they were interested during the season, I wish we had more solid info on this alleged incident, IT and DMC have openly lobbied for his return and he played great with Reke on the court, at the very least he could provide some veteran depth.
 
I found a few notes about him. He was very unhappy with sitting on the bench so used twitter and a local reporter to voice his displeasure with Houston. He stated he would not return to the team. He also missed a practice. Shortly thereafter he was waived.

I saw another note attributed to Petrie that said he no longer had interest in Williams because we had signed Brooks and traded for JJ. He said he would still be interested in TWill if it was via trade. I would like to have TWill on our team but I don't know how many guards or SFs we can handle. Seems to be too many already.

That would be very typical. Very talented dude. Can't speak to the personality. But very talented dude. Would be only appropriate I suppose that one of the top franchises scoops him up at pennies on the dollar after we let him go so we have room for Salmons, Outlaw, and Jimmer.
