Swap Tyreke Evans for Brandon Jennings

Depending on if you believe what Sam Amick wrote: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/20...3/12/trade.notebook/index.html?sct=nba_t11_a0 Brandon Jennings is on the trading block, and we probably wouldn't get him cheap.

Why the Kings should do this: As much as I love Tyreke, finding a position for him has been very difficult, especially with Thornton out there. Tyreke could be an extremely wicked player on the right team, but he doesn't seem to fit here. Granted, this could change with time, but we've been rebuilding for awhile with Tyreke without much to show for it. We've moved him around to three different positions and none have worked consistently.

Kings badly need a PG to get them into their offense and get easy shots for everyone. It's nice what Isiah Thomas has done, but imagine what a player at Brandon Jennings' level could do.

Why the Kings shouldn't do this: You're giving up on a player with an exceptional amount of potential in Tyreke. Kings will also have cap room to chase a top tier PG next season, and this is a problem that could potentially resolve itself via free agency — without giving up a tremendous talent in the process.

What I think they should do: Pull the trigger on this deal. I've watched the Kings a lot this year, and the product on the floor isn't going to make the playoffs, nor do I have much faith in this same roster making the playoffs next year.

Bad teams rarely attract top free agents, and I don't see how Deron Williams or whomever is going to be so enthralled with our roster that they decide to make their way out here.

That leaves a trade, and as far as I know Jennings is the top PG on the block (according to Amick).

How the new team would look:
C: Cousins
PF: Jason Thompson
SF: Francisco? (Salmons probably)
SG: Thornton
PG: Jennings

You'd be surrounding Cousins with three point shooters, opening up more inside play for him and setting up draw and kicks to open men. You'd have a PG that could consistently feed DeMarcus the ball and the rest of the team.

No thanks! Not in a million years and its painful watching Thornton going into hogfest. The pain would quadruple by adding Jennings to that mix.

Again, as much as I love Tyreke, I don't see how he fits this team, and more importantly, Sac fixes their biggest need (IMO) — the PG position.

Thornton is a better shooter, and while he doesn't have the same ability as Tyreke to get to the basket, he still can slash fairly well.

Both Cisco and Salmons are good passers from the SF position and both guys can shoot better than Tyreke and both guys are veterans who can defend well.

The floor will be spaced better for more inside play for Cousins and more draw and kick play to the open man.

A PG who can rack up assists and shoot the 3 comes in, on a team that badly needs to improve their FG% and assist totals. (Brandon doesn't shoot a good percentage from the floor, but he should help others do so).

Anyway, not a perfect trade. Sacramento loses individual defensive ability, creating, passing and scoring from the SF spot, and they're giving up on a guy who has amazing ability and is well liked by many.

Bottom line for me is this isn't a team headed for great things — as is. We've seen marginal improvements over the years, and we'll probably see more next season, but it's not enough to make us a good team with the same roster going into next year.

It's time to shake things up a bit and get a PG out there who will create a lot for others and give other teams problems deciding how to defend us.

Jennings can run an NBA offense but he likes to put up shots and his shot selection is poor. Sometimes he'll just say **** it and get into a scoring contest with his man.

Jennings is more of a ballhog than Tyreke? Not that I've seen.

You obviously haven't watched and he is also proving to be a real cancer on that team!

Wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole. The moment he plays for the Kings, I quit being a fan!

Jennings the guy who has been "researching big market teams" - No thanks.

#1 reason why this dumb idea should never enter anyones head.

Jennings admitted when his contract was up he would rather head to a large market ie.. LA.

Next.

^^^^Not to mention his tweet his first time arriving in Sacramento 'Just touched down in Sac. Smells like cows'.

Why was this even thread worthy? Should be locked, the key should be tossed, and this should be buried in the temple of doom.

Clearly you haven't seen ... I also don't know where this Tyreke is a ballhog idea comes from, as of late at least. He's become one of the more willing passers on the team. Not a good passer, but a willing one. Thornton on the other hand ...

You wanna pair up Jennings with Thornton and DMC? Good luck with that bro. Does not solve our PG problem very much, and still leaves a huge gap at SF because there's no way Thornton or Jennings could play SF.

On the SF note. We have a ton of people who play that position on our roster. Cisco, Salmons and Greene. How well they do at that position is definitely up for debate, of course.

So if you guys don't like Jennings, who's a viable solution at the PG position that Sac could realistically get?

Wall, Deron Williams, Rondo.

Jennings is a top 3 guy in the NBA when it comes to sheer stupidity. It defies any logic to trade Tyreke for him. He's a chucker, and an idiot and it's pretty obvious what route his career is going down. I have no idea how or why anyone would think it a good idea to trade Tyreke for him.

We have the worst SF rotation in the NBA. You lost me when saying the PG position is our weakest spot.

Trade the one for the other? No. Double no. First, it's insane to trade Evans for anyone. Two, Jennings is not the anyone to pick. I wonder if Amick enjoys fishing?
