Hall of Famer
On January 17th 2001 Kings beat Celtics 111 - 106 to improve to a solid 26 - 10 at that time. Kings shot 56 % but had a lot of problems and decided the game in the last minutes. Webber had 30/9/4/5, Pedja had 26/6/3 Vlade had 12/11/7, JWill had 17/4/8 and Jon Barry who started for DC had 13 pts and 4 assists.

"In no way should we think we can turn it on and off," Webber
said.
"This game really shouldn't have been as close as it was.
We should be happy that we got the win, but not happy about the
way we played."

------------------------------------------------------------------------
King 15 - 21 still last in Pacific and close to the bottom of the Westen conference are only one game away from playing Lakers. With 3 starters down and Mike banged up - Kings just had the easiest game of the 3 games home stand before they hit the road for the 6 game East coast trip. The forecast clearly show some hurricanes coming our way. Against the Suns Kings have a chance to get to .500 at home for the season.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
One could argue that Kings need a new medical center more than a new arena. Bonzi might be back in a week or 2. SAR might be back in 2-3 weeks and Pedja's season is pretty much over even though one might argue that it never started in the first place. Yes, he will be back in week or 2 or 3 or 4 or so but all he will do is make his trade value even lower. Currently, he couldn't even be traded for Thomas, Williamson and Skinner. Ia A. Houston availible ? Last night Mike Bibby hurt himself and for a moment one could see him propperly dressed according to a dress code sitting next to the rest of the team. We already have the most talented inactive/injury list in the NBA.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Not only, that those guys are missed on the court but we also don't really have players who can fill in on a regular basis which just increases pressure on Mike and Brad. Cisco played 48 minutes last night. If You want to know how bad things are ask Yourself a quesrtin - When was the last time that RA played a rookie 48 minutes especially considering all mistakes Cisco made ? EXACTLY !!!. No choice these days. Every win is a prize these days regardless on the opponents quality.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kings won another very ugly game agains the team that is shorthanded as well and was on the last game of the road trip. Mike Bibby had a career night offensively and when Magic figured out what to do it was too late. Kevin had his first double double. Brad almost had a tripple double and Cisco had his firs ever 8 seconds violation. Howard had 19 rebounds and he would have had more if the coach Hill would have let him. Jameer Nelson won the TDM awardbut All of that did not matter because Mike Bibby overshadowed everything and everyone. Now if he could get more consistant and get more help from his teammates.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One team that we really don't want to play at the moment are Suns who will punish You if You are short handed. They will be looking for payback because kings won in Phoenix wher Pedja had that great 3rd quarter and Kings came from behind and won. MVP Steve Nash will bring his game with his hairstyle and if Mike is not 100 % and it looks like he won't be - it is trouble right there. You add a 20/20 game from Marion and things might get ugly. Our only chance to get Suns to play as bad as we do and beat them with experience. If we go their tempo we will lose becaus ewe don't have enough fire power. We might go very small at times so expect the "hobbit ball"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mike - I would sit mike out to make sure that he is ok against LA. He has had many battles with Nash and did not look too bad either. Might have trouble with House, Barbose etc.
Brad - he has to have career night for us to have a chance and even if he has - it still might not be enough.
Bonzi, SAR, Pedja - make sure to obey the dress code.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kevin Martin - luckly decided not to stand in the corner. The game against Suns should favor him
Garcia - yes he plays hard and no that is not enough to start in the NBA. RA will go crazy it this continues
Corliss - getting slower every game. Might play his natural position tonight - center.
KT - if there is a night for a career high - this is it. Don't count on it.
Hart - will get a lot of playing time - will not give us enough
Price - might get a lot of PT too because of the possible early garbage time.
Skinner - will block a shot in 5 minutes of PT
Sampson - whatever
------------------------------------------------------------------------
RA - on life support just like his team
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Suns - fast and furious just like the Kings of old. They guarantee a high scoring game which doesn't mean that we will score a lot. They have plenty of players who hurt us before. House is one of several candidates for TDM award. Raja Bell will have an awsome game. Diaw is fun to watch. Barbosa was injured a lot - but he is very quick too.

What's that sound?

Oh yeah. Impending Doom.

You know, back in the day when the Kings rarely won, we still managed to find a little hope and faith and belief that, just this once, maybe they might do the impossible.

I'd sure like to see that right now. Yes, they might lose and lose by a lot, if the pessimists in the "how bad will it be" thread are to be believed. But until the game is actually over, there is a chance the Kings will win. I'd sure like to see a little bit of optimism and hope...

piksi is ALWAYS pessimistic. It's his nature; it's his job, it's what he does. I don't see why some of the rest of us can't have a little hope for "The Impossible Dream" - at least until the game actually starts.

;)

Okay, Phoenix is not THAT good. They are still missing a certain superstar caliber PF. They are beatable.

Just probably not by us. ;)

You had to throw in that last sentence, didn't you?

;)

Is it just me but doesn't the Suns remind us of what the Kings were? Think about in 2003 the Kings were the number one team. The following year the Kings had to deal with injuries with CWebb but were still doing very good, Now look at the Suns last year they were the best team in league in the regular season and this year they lose their PF for almost all of the season and still they are doing an incredible job.

I'm actually a natural-born pessimist, just like Piksi. But when it comes to my team, I can't help but hope, even in the face of overwhelming odds. It could happen. :D ;)

TDM = Eddie House: 27 pts, seven 3pt.FG's made.

Steve Nash smokes the hobbled Bibby even more than normal...20 points, 20 assists.

Tony Delk Memorial - Used to predict the former Kings player who will, out of nowhere, light up the Kings and have a career night.

The TDM is not necessarily limited to a former King; it could be any journeyman who goes for a career night against us, and is, of course, a nod to the night that Tony Delk came off the bench to score 53 against us while playing for Phoenix (January 2, 2001), the most points ever scored by a non-starter, hence the "award" being named in his honor.

Thank you, I have seen that used before and never asked.

And you cannot imagine the convoluted assortment of words that I used to try to make it work.

One thing is for sure about tonight... American Idol is on at 8 :)

GO KINGS, going to be very tough but I will hold out hope for a nice miracle.

Oh boy, as sad as this is, I can't help but smile. The only thing left to do now is to add Mike and Brad to the list. I know you can only have 3 on the list, but maybe Stern won't notice. We suck anyway, why not suck all the way. And Skinner would finally get a few more minutes, but not many cause Corliss would be the center.

Seriously, we gonna win tonight...

Keys to the game;
Kings - Offense
1. Value the ball, get a good shot on each possession.
2. Slow it down, don't play at their pace.
Kings - Defense
1. Challenge the inbounds pass after a made basket to slow down the attack and let your guys get back, funnel Nash to the sideline/corner, deny penetration, play zone defense, make them beat you with jumpers.

This should hold them to 105 points (???) so all we need is another 40 from Bibby and 106 total!!

Its not just you -- the comparisons run deep.

Missing their superstar PF.

Their veteran passing leader (Nash) holds the team together and sets the tone for them until Amare gets back.

Their #2 gun SF steps up his game to help fill in the void.

They acquired a big man in the offseason who was meant to complement Amare, but now finds himself filling the void left by him (Kurt Thomas).

Now the only question is if you went to a Phoenix board right now have they decided that they don't need Amare anymore?

this is gonna be a tough one. Last time we had Shareef to bail us out at the end along with Peja's 23 points. You can't really avoid playing Phoenix's pace because thats just the way it is. What we will need is 20 points or more from KT, Bibby with another 28 + game, Kevin with at least 18 points, and Brad Miller with a 20 and 10 game. IF we can do that, we might actually have a chance.

33 - season high

I can see Miller, Martin, Ciso, Williamson, and Thomas all stepping up and putting together a great game to give the Kings a win without Bibby. However, what's much easier to see is Suns just running circles around the Kings and scroing at will.

Nevertheless, I still say the Kings will win. Cisco turns it up and drops 30 shooting 45%+ from the field, Martin giving the Kings 20-25, Thomas grabbing 12-15 rebounds and Williamson contributing just enough for the Kings to win. Miller will also do what he needs to do. He'll probably score 15 points, grab 10 boards, and maybe contribute 10+ assists.

Yeah, and there will be peace in the Middle East, and prices will suddenly go down, not to mention that Shaq and Kobe will be friends again. Wait a minute! (there's always a chance ;) )
