Seattle is the 14 largest market, who heavily support their NFL,MLB and MLS pro teams (they averake 40k + for MLS games and their MLS team WOULD come before the Kings), they have a WNBA team and quality NCAA programs..... I don't think they are hurting for more sports to throw their entertainment dollars at right now
I totally agree. They seem to think that they are more deserving of the Kings, since we have an NBA team an hour and 1/2 away, and there are no NBA teams in WA. Heard that one a lot.

whether you hate him or not, it's good to have lebron notice how great the kings fan are and how much we love our kings

No doubt about it.. there will be possibly a lot of classless people in the media or in the league who might not properly empathize with what we're going through, but its nice to see Lebron is not one of them and he has earned bonus points with me

Here's my two cents:

They're still our Sacramento Kings. As of right now they have not been granted a relocation to Seattle.

We have Mayor Kevin Johnson doing what he does best. He did what many thought was the impossible in 2011 when the Maloofs tried to talk their way into moving the Kings to Anaheim. I believe he can do it again in 2013. We just need to continue to show our support. How? Start off by making an impact at the Kings vs Jazz game on February 9th. After that game is over we will plan on other ways to keep the momentum going.

I hope I'm not feeling more sad in the morning or in few days but this situation is turning from water torture bad to totally 11th hour life-support desperate, IMO.
Imminent domain, anyone? Yeah, right?!

I doubt there is a viable local super group, some mysterious "whale" swimming around Sac or we would have heard of it. The sad truth is, down in the dumps city of Sacramento is insolvent (over $2 billion in debt!) and could actually be forced to declare bankrupcy in not to distant future - like Vallejo, like San Bernardino, like Stockton, etc. The 485,000 citizens of the city (yes, that's all that live in cowtown) need to come to grips with their long mismanaged, corrupt, unsustainable, predicament. Losing the Kings will only make it all stinking worse - yet, another sizeable private employer bailing.
This is crap. Almost all government entities have just as much, if not more debt than Sacramento. The only thing newsworthy about the situation is the city manager decided it was time to fully disclose all the city's liabilities for the city council to think about and plan for. As explained in Bee articles about this subject, its a bit of fresh air to have a government entity really tally it all up in such clear language. Most government entities try to obfuscate their true liabilities. I'll guarantee Seattle has as much, and probably more debt than Sacramento. Part of it is the debt for a football stadium, baseball stadium and, if they get an NBA team, add a basketball arena.

It is really making me angry that so many in the media are treating the move as a done deal to be rubber-stamped by the league. Its like they can't kiss off Sacramento fast enough.

This is absolutely not crap. Please know what you are talking about before reacting without facts. Seattle is required by law to have a balanced budget. The state of Washington now has balanced budget, unlike currently insolvent state of California with budget deficit of $28B - or as high as staggering $335B taking into account unfunded future liabilities. Because Seattle anticipated $42 million (not billion) deficit for 2013 it will soon have to put into place necessary cuts and/or revenue enhancements to balance its city budget - again, by law.

I was listening to CBS radio post game 9er commentary last night at midnight and in the update they said that the NBA approved the sale of the kings and next season they will be in seattle. Is it finally final? This is it? I thought they had to wait until march to get approval from the BOG?

It's not final and, i believe I'm right in saying, it won't be "rubber-stamped" until April (the BOG meeting), but they are expected to file for re-location before then.

the re-location and sale is all approved at the April meeting (or not)

OK, apparently the ranking of Sacramento is heavily influenced by, of all things, the housing market and unemployment rate, both of which are not under control of the Sacramento City Council and both of which should be improving soon. Seattle is going to have to make cuts/increase revenue (as you stated) and Sacramento is doing the same thing. The debt for Sacramento is including future liabilities as well (long term), not just current debt (Seattle's lower number).

But this is off topic. Let's get back to the discussion at hand, shall we?
