Staying in Sac? Now I can really look forward to the offseason.

Yes, another dream offseason.

Trade Casspi and the pick for Jared Dudley straight up. The Suns are probably going to blow it up soon, and this would be a good start.
Dudley is a true SF, hits the 3, plays tough D, has playoff experience, a reasonable long term deal, and is turning 26.

A lottery pick and young SF seems like a high price for a role player, but the Suns love Dudley. I'm using the Houston/Memphis Battier for lottery pick (Rudy Gay) from a few years back as precedent for that move.

Hopefully Dalembert re-signs. If Petrie can get Robin Lopez into the deal (Frye and Gortat are locked up), then it would be perfect.

Sign a veteran ballhandler (Anthony Carter maybe) and big (Jason Collins/Dan Gadzuric/etc) for spot minutes off the bench (sorry Pooh), and the team is set.

top 8:
Beno/Thornton/Evans
Dudley/Garcia
Cousins/Dalembert( or Robin Lopez)/ Thompson

valuable but not quite rotation players:
Carter (when you need a ball handler)
Greene (big swingman/ stretch 4)
Collins (nice vet who will set screens and smile riding the pine)
Whiteside (developmental big)

Then the team is has 12 useful players, leaving room for your favorite of Taylor/Pooh and a 2nd round pick to fill out the bench.

Is this realistic? A good enough blend of veteran savy and promising youth?

I like Dudley, but he's only a minor upgrade from Omri (especially considering Omri will just be entering his third year and will improve) AND we're giving up a high pick as well.

I understand the moves you mentioned, but considering the available caproom to only get back Dudley, Carter and Collins while giving up Casspi and a likely top 5 draft choice would be a major disappointment to me. None of those guys are difference makers or really even the type of veteran leader(s) I'd want to see.

I could see the Kings having this type of offseason, but I'm hoping for much more.

A trade for Batum or Granger is a bit of a pipedream but I'd love to see hit.

Or drafting Williams and signing Kirilenko to mentor him while dealing Casspi for a veteran big that can be the third or fourth man in the rotation.

My scenarios are obviously less likely, but I just don't see enough improvement from the moves you've mentioned.

Your scenario's might be less likely, but I like them better. I like Jared Dudley, but thats way too much to give up for him. We don't need either of the Collins twins. We could buy a cardboard cutout and it would be just as useful. At the moment I like Dally better than Lopez. And considering that the Suns have Lopez pegged as their center for the future, I'm not sure why they would let him go. Carter would add some veteran leadership and ballhandling, but then so did Luther Head.

I'd love either Batum or Granger, but as you said, both are probably untouchable. Kirilenko is quite feasable, and is my first choice. At least now as the team stands. I know you and I disagree a little on Williams, but I'd love to have him. It would be fun to see whose right, up close and personal.

I like Dudley, but thats simply giving too much. If we wanted to get him, the scenario I'd consider:

We don't get a top 2 pick.

We draft Kanter as our 3rd big(assuming Dally resigns).

Trade JT for Dudley, who Pho really likes.

Agreed, it's not a sexy offseason, and it depends on Cousins/Evans/Thornting holding up and rolling the dice on one of the young role players stepping up.
The Dudley trade would be a slight overpay (though not as much as it seems IMO), while getting Dudley plus Lopez would be a steal, so I would guess something in between is fair.

And I used to hate Jarron Collins types (terrible raw stats) but the addition of +/- numbers have sort of changed my tune on him, and I've come to appreciate the ability to shutup, play D and set screens for 5-10 minutes a game. And I honestly just don't like Darnell Jackson.

Kirilenko is better than Dudley, but he has a high price tag, will be on the downside of his career, and has had nagging injuries. He doesn't fit quite as nicely, as he is more of a help defender, and isn't much better than Donte as a shooter. And as nice as his length sounds at the 3, he really plays better at the 4, and would work better if the team can't re-sign Dally.

I certainly wouldn't complain if the team threw money at AK47, it just doesn't seem like the most efficient route.

I am warming up to Williams. He reminds me a bit of a bigger, less fluid Carmelo Anthony but his perimeter skills are a major work in progress. He can shoot from outside sure, but he has no midrange game to speak of especially off the dribble and will be a liability (at least early in his career) on defense. With a top 1 or 2 pick he'd be the guy I'd take but I'd still sign Kirilenko and then likely trade Casspi for a role playing veteran big man.

I think we're in agreement. Melo is a very good comparison by the way. Williams would be able to post up the same way Melo does. And I guarantee you he will be a better defender than Anthony.
