Special K Erupts for 53 in SPDL Finale

One of the things I like most about Kevin is his quiet, but killer confidence. I think he spent last season 'getting the feel of things' and that this season will show more of his true nature. A nature demontrated by a his quote in SLAM in May of '04. At that point, they had labeled him, Jack Rabbit Slim and noted that, after not being recruited by the big schools and having a killer season as a Freshman, that he then turned down opportunities to 'further his career' in the Big Ten because he was loyal to the school that gave him the chance. "I'd rather play against those big schools than for them"
Maybe it's just something that I've carried over from the dark days, but I LOVE the under-dog. I LOVE attitudes that say "I will suceed, no matter the odds" I respect people that chart their course and show loyalty and commitment to those that help them, even if it means their own road may be a little tougher (It would have been SO easy for Kevin to switch schools to further his agenda, get more exposure) Maybe it's just because loyalty (whether it be a player to a Franchise or vice versa) seems like such a lost concept these days that I value this as a trait.
The league is full of talented players, but Kevin is a player, a man, that I am proud to call a King.
Very nice post.

I'm anxious to hear how the all-star game went tonight, bet we hear soon!

EDIT: What a ditz I am, that was last night....duh.....the subject of the thread..... :o

I attended the All-Star Game and had a great time. The crowd was probably about 400 people which is twice as many as any of the SPDL games I had attended before.

There is not much to report. Kevin did not play. However, Matt Barnes did play and he was just great. He was obviously having a good time. There was a lot of high-flying and setting up others to do the same. Lots of oohs and ahhs from the crowd tonight and a couple of plays that actually got us jumping to our feet.

Former King Henry Turner played for the blue team. I swear that man can still shoot the basketball. And, even at his age, he schooled a couple of the young guys on some nifty moves under the basket.

Matt's team led the whole way. In fact they started the game on a 10-0 run. When I left in middle of the 4th qtr, they still had an 8 pt lead. I don't know who won, actually, nor do I really care. For me, it was all about some exciting basketball by some really talented dudes.

that is alot of people cuz thursdays game as empty but they were telling everyone to invite your friends to the all star game

Okay...I'm over being confused. The all-star game WAS tonight, and thanks for the report 6th

I only got to one game, but it was fun watching those talented dudes play, I gotta say. :D The game was fast and furious (a result of little to no defense), and the guys argued with the refs just like real life..... errrrr, the NBA.

I think I'm going to call him "The Big Cereal" now out of respect! It is so exciting to see Kevin playing well - tearing up the league. There's no telling how much upside we might experience from The Big Cereal!!!

Positive Frank

Thanks KG for the wonderful post! You know the talent Kevin has, all he needs is the opportunity to show it, and I'm excited he's finally getting that chance! ;)
