I went to watch DMC (Bobby and Kevin's team) play against Doc's/Pro Med (Bibby and Matt's team) tonight. The bad news...Bobby and Bibby were both missing. The good news...Kevin and Matt both played.
There were about twice as many people there tonight as last week. I think most of the increase were kids. That, by itself, is fine. I love kids. What I do not love are irresponsible parents who sit up high while they let their kids sit down below by themselves, and then pay no attention to them whatsoever. Ack!!
The poor players were put into a PR nightmare. When there is a big crowd and all the kids want autographs, it was really nice for all the guys to sign shirts, basketballs, etc. The kids loved it. Now comes the stupid, irresponsible part...
The kids got autographs a little before the game. Then they all lined up at halftime and the guys kept signing some more. Then...the cute little kiddies disrupted the friggen game. Yes, everytime the guys went to the bench kids would run down with their pens, tap the guys on the shoulder, and want more autographs. Yes, during timeouts, the guys couldn't even talk plays because all these kids were in their face with their pens in hand. I wanted to scream at the parents to control their kids. The parents should know better. Ack!!!
The guys couldn't say no to the kids without creating a PR nightmare for themselves and there was no security to stop this whole situation. I almost asked the guy with the microphone why he didn't say something. The dang game was going on.
BTW - the team I was cheering for (Kevin and Bobby's DMC team) won the game 140-139 in OT.
I would like to go again tomorrow night, but if parents are going to turn the game into a joke, I'm not sure whether I will. **sigh**
