Skal looking to make leap in year 3

I predict Zach Randolph will play more than Skal this season.
That would either mean that Skal is developing his game and confidence in the g league, or he is injured.
Z-bo, at most, should be getting spot minutes from any NBA coach deserving of respect.

I cannot see Zbo getting any meaningful minutes. Especially since we added 3 more players to compete for those minutes: Bagley, Giles, Bjelica. Skal should beat him out for any minutes. if he does not, well, that tells us something.

Dave Joerger is the coach, I have no evidence to believe Randolph won't be at the very least a major part of the rotation as long as he is on the roster.

the supersized soda I saw him with during summer league in the stands tells me he is probably going to be in worse shape than last year :p. i think ZBO gonna mail it in next year. Joeger plays the guys he thinks will help him win. he will not think ZBO will help him win next year...

Well, prior to Temple opting into this years contract, the Kings told him he wouldn't be playing if he did. If they felt that way about Temple, I have to assume that they feel the same way about Randolph, who is years older than Temple, and is playing a position with an even bigger surplus of players. I'm not sure why we feel that Joerger is locked into an offensive scheme of pound the ball and isolation. Yes, he ran that type of offense at Memphis, but what kind of offense was he supposed to run with the players he had there? How the hell do you play up tempo basketball with Randolph and Gasol on the floor?

This entire Randolph discussion is an inheritance of the direction of the Carter/Randolph signings... It’s good this year the money was spent on actual players for their ball abilities than mentors. But damn sure don’t give the ‘mentors’ a second year, just..

I'm really hoping whoever is in charge of Joerger tells him, "you play Z-bo too much you're gone". Simple!

He shouldn’t play period

Mpg in the front court should go

Bagley: 28mpg
Giles: 28mpg

Skal: 20mpg (see if there’s anything there)
WCS: 20mpg

Literally no place for ZBo

Here is an article about Skal getting bigger and buffer this off season. His physique looks almost Anthony Davis like in the pic and video.

With Skal, I think he has the skills to develop, but his body just wasn't NBA ready. Now that he looks to have added much needed weight and muscle, maybe we start seeing NBA Skal this year. We can only hope. ;)

Because it is fun for lots of people to relentlessly bash coaches and GMs on the Internet no matter what the facts are.

I worry about where all the angry and empty lives will turn for a whipping boy when/if Dave and Vlade are gone. Carmichael Dave will let them know I guess.

Looks like someone read bajaden's post in this thread and made their own article on it.

I think WCS is gonna be pushing 30 mpg. They might still want to take it slow with Giles (mid 20s), and Bagley is gonna have to earn it (mid 20s). Hopefully the new buff Skal earns 20mpg or so. It's a real logjam though, especially with how small the league plays these days.

I totally agree that Z-bo needs to ride pine this season. Kosta should be showcased and traded. He deserves minutes, but we need to develop all these bigs that Vlade has drafted.

The road to 25 wins shall be an interesting one! ;)

I watched that video, good to see some Kings working out. I think Nigel Hayes was there as well although I'm not sure what his status is with the Kings currently. Skal hitting the gym like that is a good sign. Also, Buddy putting in more work. This dudes been busting his hump all summer trying to get better. You have to love that.

Bjelica could and should play. Skal will have to earn minutes over him. We have to be able to stretch the floor and play some team defense. Skal and Beli stylistically are pretty similar. He is a good mentor for Skal.

Bagley is WCS with a motor and maybe a better shot. Both can play some perimeter defense but aren’t strong with perimeter offense.

Giles, let’s hope is the man.

I think the Bjelica will play a lot of small forward, since we only have Justin Jackson there. Bjelica also played pretty well at SF when Jimmy Butler was injured last year in Minnesota.

Skal will still have to earn his minutes, but I think we may see a bigger jump than expected, since Skal now has the size to play PF in the NBA.

I wish I was that influential, but, even though I had not read that article, I suspect it was out before I posted anything, and that the video was on twitter because of the article. Which is where I found it.

I’m not sure Beli can defend the small forward position especially in the West. But I’m hoping WCS and Bagley can.
