Sim Bhullar

He seems talented, well coordinated and intelligent. If he replaces some of this fat with muscle and gets in good enough shape to run up and down the floor, he could be a serious baller, pun intended.

Mark Eaton from the Jazz was listed at 7'4" 290lbs. He also had a 10+ years NBA career.

If Sim can trim down to about 310-320 lbs, he could be a player down the road. Watching his videos, he has some offensive talent and of course he is just a huge road block for anyone coming in the lane. If he can trim down and keep the weight down, he could eventually become a starter, playing 25 min a game. He would probably average at least 2-3 blocks per game on sheer size alone.

Not sure if he will ever be mobile enough to be a starter. On sheer immensity he's almost approaching Gheorghe Muresan size. Certainly you'd have to pick your spots/opponents, and run a very structured halfcourt game to ease the transition game for him.

But it's certainly intriguing to think about, isn't it? He wouldn't set a screen so much as he'd build a wall. ;)

Imagine him on tip offs. we may never loose a tip off again.

He has an almost a 10 foot standing reach, if he can just jumps a little, he should be able to win almost every tip.

Tip offs are especially important in overtime games.

Just standing across from him during tip-offs could intimidate a lot of players. What if he stepped on you after the jump?

Watched him for a few years now as I have been the photographer for the WAC.

The guy is as slow as you can imagine with his size. Didn't seem to have improved too drastically over the years. Interesting note tho, his younger brother who also plays for the NM St is almost as tall as Sim is (7'3"). Though I've never seen him step on the court as a freshman.

Shhh. We're not ready to come back to reality yet. :)

I wonder if they're taking the approach that they did with some of the 10 day contracts this past season? As in not really playing him much, but just evaluate him in practice and being around the team

They could also be using him to show players how to get around screens. If somebody can get around Bhullar, they can get around anybody. ;)

Any reports on whether we are going to invite him to Sacramento Kings Training Camp? We only saw 3 minute stretches which I understand is because he is not in game shape, but hope he gets a chance to show some of that defense in a preseason game or something.

Like you said, tip offs are only important in overtime. The opening tip off is meaningless since the other team gets the ball to start the 2nd and 3rd quarter. Also, he lost a tip off in summer league the other day!

Strongly suspect that given his nationality and potential marketing appeal we'll have him there, and stash him up in Reno watching a whole bunch of Richard Simmons videos.

Here's what's scary. Does the marketing appeal of Bhullar win out a roster spot in front of Moreland?I believe we're locked into 13 spots currently including Acy.

Both? Not great because Brooks deserves the spot for more than Sim does and we lose a little roster flexibility, but a lot of trades we're linked to involve us sending 2 for 1 or even 3 for 1. So not the biggest deal in the world. But Bhullar taking a roster spot over Moreland would be an egregious PR error and basically broadcast to any Kings fan who's paying attention that the "NBA 3.0" vision or whatever takes precedence over making winning roster moves.

I'm on the Moreland train but I'm not really bothered which direction the Bhullar train goes. I'm not 100% sure how the roster spot allocation works if someone is just in the D league but if Bhullar takes a spot that could have been given to a brooks or a moreland I'll be angry.

I really should have said "ethnicity" instead of "nationality" since I have been vocal about the dumbness of calling a guy like Jeremy Lin "Chinese" even though he was born and raised in the States and attended Harvard. Sim's Canadian. But obviously of Indian descent. Normally, as with Lin, I would caution that because he wasn't actually born in India its not going to have the same impact to people over there, but in Sim's case his monstrous size I think helps to create a larger than life persona/attraction likely to bring attention if he can play at all.

Sim should be swimming like Tim Duncan. He should shed weight quick. By the time we dump some contracts when it's around the trade deadline, he could get called up to the "show".

Still waiting for a Sim Bhullar contract sighting!!!! Maybe in the contract they can set a weight goal to obtain the contract like they did with Sean May. But he could be our shot blocker/ rim protector!!!!
