Should Ronnie Price be the primary backup...or should the Kings look elsewhere?

the things is hart did get extended minutes in the beggining of the season but he was an inconsistent performer, which casued hart to fall out of Rick's rotation.

the things he did, such as bad shot selection and the turnover's frustrated many of us. He also showed us that he couldn't orchestrate the offense as well i thought he could have.

one thing he did well was playing defense. He was a great lock down defender and he was able to keep low hastle the ones he guarded.

but id have to say i was disappointed in Hart this year, as i thought he would bring the numbers he produced in charlotte to the kings.

i bought the disappointment to myself though, as i expected to much from him. (should've took notice that he put up good numbers on a below par first-year franchise team)

Not to be argumentative...but your wrong on all accounts.

I saw Kevin Martin last year in the first pre-season games and I was extremely impressed. All last year, in the few times he played, I kept hoping he'd get over his confidence issues because I felt that his confidence more than anything held him back. I think during the pre-season it hadn't really sunk it that he was playing in the NBA and he was excited, confident and absolutely awesome. One of my biggest thrills this year was seeing him play with the skill, athletesism and talent that I saw in him initially.

I said that I was not impressed with either Hart or Price - and that's how I feel... they just don't stand out for me. Not because they are on the bench, but because of their performance/attitudes. I am well aware that rookies spend a lot of time on the bench and I love watching them get their chances and grow. These two just didn't knock my socks off.

Point taken. Funny how different players stand out more to different people. MArtin didn't impress me until midseason when he started hitting his shot with more consistency from the outside.

Price impressed me because he's got Martin's athleticism but in a 6'1 frame, & with time I still feel can develop that Bobby Jackson-like killer instict. He's certainly got the talent to do so. Plus, I've been watching him play since college, so I was already high on him.

I say keep him, and use Jason Hart (advertised as a veteran defensive-minded point guard with playoff experience ) as sweetener in a deal to get a starting PF.

The way the team is currently comprised, we aren't going to need to rely very heavily on a backup PG, unless it's a Bobby Jackson-type veteran who can come off the bench and we don't miss a beat. If we're choosing between Jason Hart and Ronnie Price, neither of them are going to contribute much to the team. However, since we already know what Jason Hart is going to give us (which isn't much, by the way), I propose shipping him out and letting Ronnie Price be a consistent part of the rotation. That way, we can see what he can do before he's a free agent next season, and know one way or the other what to do with him.

That is, unless we sign or trade for a quality backup point guard like Earl Watson (in my dreams).
