Should Bavetta feel safe in Sacramento?

#1
Ok I am kidding. I'm not suggesting that he should feel like he's in physical danger in Sactown. Kings fans have more class than that.

What I was wondering is if anyone else feels like the guy should be booed, snarled at, or any of the other things that we normally reserve for the Lakers players, Robert Horry, and maybe now Indiana (anyone know how to cook Kobe's "special burger"). You don't even need to believe the recent allegations to know that for whatever reason Bavetta decided to be the most incompetent ref in basketball history on the night that mattered most to Kings fans. Since Stern didn't punish him I can only see it as being fair that Kings fans take a little time and make sure he understands our displeasure with his reffing career next time he's in town.

The crowd will do what the crowd will do. And I wouldn't be at all surprised if it's booing.

Too bad we never know who will be reffing before a game. It would be delicious to have some signs with giant blowups of that shot of Bavetta with his Lakers #6 jersey. Just to clarify the booing a little...

I've been booing him ever since Game 6.
Yea, this is a real good issue. I think it would be extremely wise if we didn't put the fear of god into this man, because, at the end of the day he is still going to ref a good number of our teams' games. Unless he starts making bogus calls (again), we should not care. And lets judge him for what he is TODAY, not the corrupt man* he was 6 years ago.

If and when Dick Bavetta officiates in Sacramento, there's no doubt he will be booed. Keep in mind, however, that if the game cannot be played because of the actions of the fans in the stands, the Kings would forfeit the game.

It will be interesting to see if the league actually schedules him to come into Arco.

What kind of fans do you think we are?

Depends on your definition of "we"...

Based on the Kings fans I've observed at games I wouldn't be too worried.

Based on some of the comments I've seen from anonymous people on message boards, I'd be more than a little concerned.

I have been to many games and "WE" are some of the most classy fans in all of sports. The chances of a game not being able to continue because of "US" are incredibly low.

I don't think we're on opposite sides of this, upinsmoke. As I said, if I base my response on the fans I've actually seen at the games, I'm not worried. My comment was a general reminder for those who may not have been to games.

So if we the fans force every game to be canceled and forfeited, do we still get the most lottery balls for the draft? I mean going 0-82? It might be fun coming up with new ways to get the game called while still being classy. Like hiding all the official game balls.

Sounds like we may have found a loop hole to get us that top 3 pick.

That's a whole lot of fans that would have to be behind just one idea. Not to mention a disservice to the players that play for the love of the game(and thousands to millions of dollars)

Somehow I believe that we still wouldn't get a top 3 pick.

RunNGun - This is NOT a good title for a thread!!! I still like Bavetta, and I think he is as uncompromised as they come (that may not be saying much).

Bavetta is one oƒ*the top 3-4 reƒs in the NBA. In game 6 he had his worst night ever, unƒortunately in a game that would have sent the Kings to the ƒinals. Did he do it on purpose? Absolutely not. Did he get inƒluenced by the powerƒul Lakers getting beat up by the lowly Kings? maybe. He called a lot oƒ*Kings games that year when our Kings ran over everybody top to bottom. I'll cut him bunch oƒ*slack. Reƒerreeing is s tough job. We'll never know just why what happened in game 6 happened. Water under the bridge 6 years ago now.
