Some Heatian fans are starting to feel you. This is from a Miami newspaper Heat blog.
Quote: This game was terrible. Shaq is the epitome of what this team is: mediocre and lazy. They think they're the best team in the league, but they have a long way to go. Not showing up every night is bush.
Quote: Well there are two views. Either he's lazy, or he's done. I'm hoping he's just being lazy cuz it's regular season. I'm sick of him pretending he's hurt. He's not hurt anymore. He's just lazy or done. And yeah, pretty sad that Shaq is STILL the best out there. The center position has really gone down the toilet.

I think i'd go with lazy. Please, how long are we going to continue this charade that he's still playing hurt? Or that he is just getting into the mix of things? If he were on another team everyone here would be ripping him. Lets not forget, part of his fued with Kobe stemmed from him continously being out of shape and his inability to show constant "ZO" like determination.
We cant ignore what everyone in LA was screaming when he left. Sure, a lazy Shaq is still the best Center in the NBA, but is that really saying much? He's still lazy, why does everyone deny that? I mean just look at him, he's an athlete, and he's overweight! Do you know how hard it is to play that game and be overweight?
Quote: I think Shaq is done. I thought say last season when he played the Pistons. Who from Shaq's draft class is still in the NBA? And who from that draft class is still making an impact? Mourning (who missed a couple seasons), Jim Jackson (who still plays, right) and big shot Bob Horry (who's considered one of the league's old men). For the last 3 seasons Shaq has either been hurt or still recovering from an injury. There's no injury... he's just old.
I think the trade for him was smart, but 5 years at 20 million? Riley should have went out an gotten up and comers, instead of hasbeens.
Quote: Yeah, unfortunately that's what I'm thinking too Mike. It's enough already with him being injured. I don't know how hurt he was in last year's playoffs, but so far this year he has been very unimpressive. Even before he got hurt, in the Memphis and Indiana games, he looked slow, lazy, and fat. It's pretty frustrating that the difference between this team winning a championship and this team struggling around a .600 winning percentage is one guy's lack of determination.
Quote: Shaq needs to dominate. He is playing like Olowokandi out there. His defense and rebounding is terrible. What the hell is wrong with him? Lazy, hurt, unmotivated during the regular season? I don't know but what he's doing out there is not enough for this team and definitely not enough to bring us a championship.
Quote: Shaq has made me beyond angry this season. He's just lazy.
His career is gonna be cut 3 or 4 years short by pure apathy.
Quote: Shaq is just a shadow of his former self, and unless he is spoon fed right at the rim, he cant even back down the like's of the Hornet's Chris Anderson..
He looks like his feet are concrete blocks, he cant even get off the ground, he watches rebounds go right by him, and totally ineffective any more than 3 feet from the rim.
For the team Shaq isnt getting it done, but for the organization he is still filling seats and selling jerseys, so im sure they arent that upset, but for how much longer?
The lakers dont look that crazy anymore do they?
Quote: You see all of you guys ignored me when I said we should trade Shaq, Toine and Haslem for KG ....now my proposition is looking good. The HEAT have to move this over size horse manuer, he is a big Mojon at 7-1 330 pounds trades his fat @ss...
heck I would trade him for Alan Ogg if I could. At least we could have fun with Ogg's name and one thing Ogg would do is play with heart if he was in the L.
Quote: what pisses me off more about Shaq is that everytime the HEAT have a huge game he comes out with one of hs stupid quotes such as "Flash and Hulk had to carry SUperman today" ohh please you Big Fake, stop making excuses and play hard, MAN UP (Bleep)!!!!! He always mumbles like a big dummy and now plays like one. Too...you can see D Wade wants to win, the kid had nearly a 3 double by half time and ZO playing with one kidney (the other is not his) are giving it their all and this @sshole is playing half way.
Quote: Miami is 19-14, and that record looks better than we really do. First off Shaq has always in his entire career been extremely lazy, even in his most dominate years. People need to realize that he's 33, huge, and can't move like he use to. He’s been playing like this since he started with Miami
(he even looked slower in LA last two seasons.), but at least he's been consistent at it. Last nights game with 19 points on 9/13 with 9 rebounds is all he can do now, maybe a little bit more some other nights but last night was a good average...(still the best center in the league)
Quote: When you're a 7'1", 300 lbs man-child with great balance, good footwork and decent court vision from the post, what incentive is there to hustle? That's the Shaq conundrum: he still thinks that he can dominate just by virtue of his rare combination of size and talent. He probably thinks that he can still "turn it on" at will. He probably rationalizes his conditioning by noting that despite being in some of the best shape ever last year, he was sidelined by an injury during crunch time. That's no excuse, just a hypothetical reason.
There is no denying Shaq's greatness and Hall of Fame achievements. Yet, it's somewhat tragic to realize that with just a little effort he could have been the undisputed best player in the history of the game. Instead, he is content with being one of the best players in the history of the game. Add to that the ironic juxtoposition of Shaq and Zo on this team. If not for Shaq's ego, perhaps he would learn a thing or two about effort from a guy playing for the league minimum and a transplanted kidney.
I have been meaning to write for some time that I took umbrage with Shaq's attitude following the Conference Finals last year (following the SVG "resignation"). The fact is that if he wants the ball in his hands late then either he needs to make shots in the process of being hacked OR he needs to hit his free thwows. If he can't do the former at the same level as before, then how about improving on the latter.
Quote: 2. The big guy...I don't even like thinking this but is it fair to say maybe Jerry Buss was on to something when he traded the big guy.
Buss has always stuck to his guns and said the reason he traded Shaq instead of Kobe was the conditioning issue for Shaq and his age. I think we are seeing a very slow out of shape Shaq at the moment. He has been back long enough to get into a good rhythm but he looked very old and slow last night. I'm going to keep my eye on the big fellow.
