Sellout streak??

I suspect the "streak" will come to an end in the foreseeable future. Which isn't, in and of itself, really THAT bad. Streaks end; they start again. Right now, maybe the best thing would be for the streak to end. Maybe, just maybe, ticket prices might go down a little for a change instead of continuing to climb. ;)

At this point, however, you have to wonder how many tickets the organization just might buy up itself to keep the streak alive...

Yep - and at some point they're going to have to explain the empty seats.

If the streak actually ended a while back - which I strongly suspect it did based on comments from several season ticket holders - then they need to just quit ONCE AGAIN blowing sunshine up our skirts.

I simply cannot believe the unending comedy of errors that is the Kings marketing department this year... We AND the team deserve better.

Empty seats don't mean that the game wasn't sold out. The season tickets are already paid for and sold, regardless of attendence. Also, some seats do not apply (such as the Kings Row Seats) and SRO tickets. Probably the easiest way to judge is to try and find available seats on ticketmaster a few minutes before a game.

When a game isn't "sold out" the organization can simply donate hundreds of empty seats to a charity at the last minute. These seats won't be full but they will be "accounted" for. This is what the Kings were doing way back when they were godawful. For a few years they didn't have to do this since the games were legitimately sold out. They are probably doing it again now.

I really hope the sellout streak comes to an end. I can't believe that the Kings can find 17000+ people who can afford to spend the kind of money it costs to go see a game and continue doing it despite the product being subpar.

Nope, but empty seats DO mean that people aren't coming to the games, even if they have tickets...

As QueensFan pointed out, it's real easy to manipulate the accounting so that another "sell out" is recorded. But, as I said earlier, at some point the Kings are going to have to explain the empty seats.

I heard on the radio before the game the other night that there were tickets easily available for that nights game. For whatever that's worth.

Because of the lousy play as of late, I was wondering the same thing. Will people still want to go to the games and waste their money on half-hearted play? The streak is over for sure IMO, just the organization's efforts of keeping it alive.

I drove by a (residential) house with a sign out front advertising "Kings tickets for sale". That's where things are at right now.

They always have a set number of tickets available for the game at the box office the night of the game. Doesn't mean anything.

BTW - 273 sellouts in a row, according to tonights' TV graphic.

Than that doesn't sound like a sellout to me.

They intentionally hold back a set # of tickets for walk-ups the day of the game so "the little people" can get last minute tix, too. I don't see that as a bad thing.

Not sure what the requirements are as far as a "sell-out". Can a small percentage of the tix be left unsold and still be considered a sell-out? I think there is a little flexibility there....

I thought they said it was 270 something on Sunday. Not quite 300 yet I don't think. Even though the seats are sold out, doesn't mean everyone will actually show up. That would explain some of the empty seats.

If I remember right, before the last "sold out" streak officially ended, the Kings organization was simply paying the league office their take or tax on the unsold tickets in order to continue claiming a sell out. Good possibility that might be the case again. VF21 is probably correct, when it becomes too obvious they will have to come clean.

(Just being a little flexible) ;)
