Selfish play wearing Landry down

You just described every sports writer in the history of sports journalism. Actually, you just described every journalist in history.

I don't know that all journalists do this. But there's some truth there I suppose. Everyone has biases. Some of them just hide them better than others. In general though I think that if you're incapable of appreciating anyone's opinion but your own then you shouldn't be a journalist. And a lot of people who are journalists probably shouldn't be.

Actually, no. Voisin, as pointed out, is more of an editorialist or "color" story writer. In op-ed-type pieces such a writer can write their opinion or point of view. So they can write their opinion or interpretation of what they hear or see.

A real reporter is supposed to write about the facts without interpreting them. I do think Voison is more the editorialist, who occasionally blurs the line. A reader has to be analytical enough to keep actual fact separate from rumors, gossip and personal point of view or personal interpretations.

Considering that most of the talking heads doing the so called newscasts are editorializing, its hard to find too much fault with Viosins style. I admit to not caring for her opinion most of the time, but as long as when she quotes someone, she's accurate, then I don't have a problem with her. It appears on the surface at least, that she was accurate in this particular piece, since Landry started backtracking when he found out she had the entire thing on tape.

Voison hasn't actually written a piece about the Kings, or about what the Kings are saying, in a decade.

She has written many MANY pieces about what she, Ailene Voison is saying, trumped up with convenient quotes often cleverly editorialized in-story. "Given the franchise's utter failure to acquire a muscular sweaty tight jeans wearing sweet shooting Euro to fill the obvious shooting void in the lineup, how has the current crop of Kings responded? "[insert convenient quote by Kings player actually talking about how to make his family's Thanksgiving Dinner, but implied to be supporting Ailene's position].

He did get himself embarrassed. I just have a problem with taking accurate quotes that aren't provided within context. Voisin is not the only one in the media who does that, by a long shot, though. It was nice to go to the city council and hear it live, over having it filtered through the media.

The other thing about quotes is that, just like this message board, where we do out own writing, sometimes we think we are sayig one thing and people are interpreting it entirely differently. Also, you can't really get the tone of voice, body language, facil experssions, unless the writer does try and give a hint of that. Something said in jest or sarcasticaly can read like a totally serious comment. I find I don't always trust Voisin's articles. She tends to reach for a bit of the sensational or controversial. That could be exactly what the newspaper wants from her, tho. People don't want to read boring and everybody getting along is, unfortunately, considered boring.

While Carl might at times be looking to only get his own shot off and frustrate the hell out of us fans, one thing I do notice is that he doesn't allow easy baskets too often. I mean he makes the other team earn them, grabs them, hacks them, etc. I love seeing that, no easy buckets.
