I didn't hear it but someone on bleachermob posted that Crandall said they were aware of the negative feedback but wouldn't be influenced by it.

I would really like to believe the hue and cry by the assembled masses might actually get to them... but I'm not holding my breath.

^^Nice shade of purple. Should I revive you or just let you stay there until there's good news of some kind?

;)

I guess I could sit through a year or two of Nellie as long as Ellie was waiting in the wings as top assistant/head coach in grooming. It would beat Whiz, that's for sure.

Just for the sake of argument, say the Maloofs end up hiring someone rather the Whis. How does he go back to the Monarchs after all this Kings coaching hoopla? Will he be well received by Monarchs fans? Does he get the same respect from the players?

my feeling is that if he doesnt get the job the players and fans will welcome him back with open arms

Just got an email from my brother in Sacto -- he says that Jim Crandel (sp?) of Fox? -- anyway, local news sports anchor tonight was claiming that the Maloofs are aware of how negative the Whisenhart reaction has been and that they therefore are going to interview some more candidates, including possibly Nellie?

Can anybody confirm? I'm getting this secondhand.

I can confirm it. I saw the report and it's accurate. Crandell also said Petrie will be leaving town Wednesday for the pre-draft camp that will be held in Orlando and that would delay any announcement.

GOOD, any delay is a good thing IMO

Oh please god let it be true that Maloofs have reconsidered :(

Final Three According to Kings Web Site?

From the Official Kings Web Site
"According to several published reports over the last week, including an article written in the Sacramento Bee, the Sacramento Kings have narrowed their search for a head coach to succeed Rick Adelman down to three candidates. All three are known in basketball circles, with two having won championships at some point in their careers and the other having grown up with coaching literally flowing though his blood." They then list Ellie, Whisenant and Musselman as the three possibilities with bios on each.

It's interesting to me that they don't actually say that this is the final three but that it is the final three according to "several puplished reports". There is also a pole as to whom fans would pick. As of this time Ellie is winning.

At least they know how we feel. If they had any heart, they would make a decision that the fans would totally agree with.

I will throw out another crazy scenario. Maybe the Maloofs "floated" the idea out to certain people that Whis was the next coach in order to gauge fan/public/media reaction??

It just seems so odd that they would move forward with this with such a negative response from EVERYONE??? I'm not a Monarchs fan but they do have a small loyal fan base here and this would basically screw them all over as well. So, not only are you getting your Kings fans and season ticket holders completely pissed(I have talked to most of the people I sit by in my section and they are pretty much ready to cancel their tickets and we have all made the Kings aware of this) you are also alienating another fan base by taking away any momentum you had with the Monarchs from last year and ripping it to shreds.

This goes back to my theory. Kings are looking for feedback from the fans :p. Anyway, Elie at the current moment is beating Whis 37% to 20% and Muss has 27%. Whis is barely beating out the mysterious coach "other"......I hear he's got a few skeletons in his closet.

The pre-draft camp in Orlando doesn't start until next Tuesday the 6th so maybe he's going to Disney World beforehand!!!

Seems like the Maloofs may be feeling the heat. Listen to any of the local radio shows, and the opinion is overwhelmingly negative from fans and industry people alike about Coach Whis. Alos, I'm sure they know of kingsfans.com. If you look at the poll it's about 90% negative and every Monarchs fan posting is furious.

They may want him, but hopefully they realize in the long run it's not worth all the heat.

Go vote on Kings.Com... Perhaps by some miracle our voice is being heard, the greatest the margin on the poll, the better. Even if the chance is very slim, voting certainly couldn't hurt.

Ok Maybe I'm being a dumbass, but wher is the poll at on kings.com? I don't see it.

Talk about a slanted question. 'Who do you think will be the next coach' rather than "who you do you want to be the next coach?"

Even though the wording is funky, it still reflects who the fans WANT as coach. Because it's pretty obvious that if you were going to take a guess it would obvioulsy have to be W, yet Elie still leads by a large margin, showing it's more of a want than who people actually think will be on the sidelines next season.

word is the Maloofs are interested in interviewing Phoenix Suns assistant Marc Ivaroni...so that could delay any announcement further

Why would you want to interview an assistant from a team that is based around offense and not a whole lot of defense?

Sounds like a good thing. Maybe they do read the fan site polls! :D Regarding the whole article that says Mussellman (sp?) is the frontrunner.
