I was in Phoenix the night that KD arrived and was introduced (not playing). The crowd was excited, but they were nervous because they knew what they gave up for him, and that if it doesn’t work out they’re screwed.

I mean, maybe, but the lakers are only 14th in the league in FGA inside of 10 feet, and 17th in the league in FGA inside of 3 feet (cite). The season before that, they were 8th and 10th, respectively, and the season before that they were 10th and 12th. I know that it doesn't count as an official shot attempt when you get fouled, but that doesn't sound consistent with the notion of a team that's getting twice as many free throws as the next closest team simply driving more.

Butler was out, looks like Butler is the key for them this season.

Great night from a Kings POV, two direct competitors lost and we won. Can’t believe we’re tied for 8th after this crazy season. 1 GB of 6th, and the Clippers are trending down and still have a tough schedule ahead. 0.5 GB of GSW but I’m less confident in catching them as their schedule is easy and they look like a much better team with Butler now.

Looking at the schedules, Phoenix and Portland have schedules just as tough as ours. I would say at this point, we’re better than a 50% probability of making the play-in. Obviously, we want a least a 8 seed which is definitely possible but Minnesota and Dallas have much easier schedules, so we’ll have to go string together a bunch of wins where we’re not the favorites to get to that point. Doug will have them focused on one game at a time, but the landscape will be tough to be better than a 9 or 10 seed
