[News] Schröder/Russ backcourt for Monk trade? Uberthread

Agreed! This is how I feel. The way people were reacting on twitter, I thought it was a done deal lol I searched and searched but nothing came up. Good lord
Social media is a bad thing in many ways. One good thing is the rate of speed that important news can get pushed globally. The flip side is how fast speculation and rumors very quickly morph into something that's more than intended. I'm so happy to no longer be on any of the more formal social media platforms (Twitter/Facebook/etc..); however this site sometimes similarily spins out of control -- just at a smaller scale.

It's like we can't find a middle ground between "all our players are garbage and we're going to have to pay their entire salaries to make them go away" and "not trading that dude for SGA, what are you trying to rip us off?"
Kings fans acting like Scott Perry is out here turning down Mikal Bridges trade packages for Lavine and Deebo just don’t understand the game or the game within the game.

I absolutely agree with this. I absolutely love malik. Many times over the past three years I thought he was one of my all time favorite kings... warts and all in his game. Just an electric offensive player at times, who played with passion and a real love for Sac. I could overlook the severe defensive deficiencies, out of control play, chucking and lack of size. I love him, but absolutely OK with him being moved. That era of Kings basketball is over and I'm ready to move on (be it a rebuild or reset).

Wondering if there is still a path for DeRozan to MIA. Could be a DeRozan to MIA, Monk to DET, and Wiggins/Schroder to SAC type deal.

That would leave us with a tentative depth chart of…

PG - Schroder / Carter
SG - LaVine / Ellis / Davis
SF - Wiggins / Clifford
PF - Murray / Raynaud
C - Sabonis / Valanciunas / Jones

That at least seems less clunky at the guard spots, but if we bring in Westbrook, then it’s immediately clunked back up again which makes me wonder if we’re dangling Carter or Ellis as extra incentive in this trade as well (unfortunately).
Or perhaps MIA wants both Monk & DeRozan? And DET gets Rozier & Jaquez and we get Wiggins & Schroder? Assuming Schroder is getting the MLE, it could be something like...

--------------------------------

DET Gets: Terry Rozier & Jaime Jaquez
DET Gives: Dennis Schroder, Simone Fontecchio, & Bobi Klintman
Why for DET? They get a cheap, young, bench wing to help replace the loss of Schroder, but also get some deep PG depth in Rozier as well.

PG - Ivey / Sasser / Rozier
SG - Thompson / LeVert
SF - Cunningham / Holland / Jaquez
PF - Harris
C - Duren / Stewart / Reed

--------------------------------

MIA Gets: Demar DeRozan, Malik Monk, & Simone Fontecchio
MIA Gives: Andrew Wiggins & Terry Rozier
Why for MIA? The Heat get some needed scorering and playmaking help, but still have the Ware/Adebayo combo to help uplift the defense.

PG - Mitchell / Kasparas
SG - Herro / Monk / Larsson
SF - DeRozan / Highsmith / Fontecchio
PF - Ware / Jovic / Anderson
C - Adebayo / Love

--------------------------------

SAC Gets: Andrew Wiggins, Dennis Schroder, & Bobi Klintman
SAC Gives: DeMar DeRozan & Malik Monk
Why for SAC? The Kings get a PG to help run the offense with Sabonis while also getting a long, athletic forward who can defend, shoot, and score a bit.

PG - Schroder / Carter
SG - LaVine / Ellis / Davis
SF - Wiggins / Clifford
PF - Murray / Raynaud / Klintman
C - Sabonis / Valanciunas / Jones

--------------------------------

If Perry were happy with just Monk for Schroder, this deal would’ve been done 16 hours ago.
Maybe Detroit wants incentive to take monk. Or maybe Perry is trying to find a way to get horford to gs and kuminga to sac while staying under the tax

Well maybe the latter. Saw the other tweet saying we want incentive

That will be the dumbest move ever if the Kings trade Monk for Schroeder. He's not worth Monk. I wouldn't even think Schroeder is that good. You got to be so damm stupid to get rid of a talent like Monk. It's like the Fox scenario where you get the short end of the stick. If they had to get rid of Monk for Schroeder, I think the NEW GM should just leave...just like Monte left after the Fox disaster trade.

They don’t have to trade Monk to get Schroder, they can just sign him. IF they do trade him, it’s because they want to use his money at a different position. One of Keon, Monk and Carter had to go, can’t have 3 smaller 2 guards on the team. It’s not going to be Keon and Carter is cheaper and can play defense, which is the direction Perry wants to go after being offense heavy for years.

Soo WTF Keon gets the shaft for financial flexibility talk of S&T using Monk to get Dennis without using the MLE 14m , now trading Jonas to save another 5m in salary cap what the heck Scott do you have an expensive target in your sights? Who? Kuminga? Please give us a clue!

I still don't understand that at all.

Yup. “Monk has emerged as an option for the pistons” just never sounded like verbiage that should make anyone panic IMO lol he may very well be moved and very soon, but for Dennis Schröder? Come on. I just didn’t see it
