[SAS/DAL]The End of The Mavericks?

I just got done watching the game and I saw the Nowitzski injury, it looked almost eerily similar to Shaun livingston injury or the Terrel Owens injury of last year.

Now with Jason Kidd can he rejuvenate this team? I kind of feel sorry for Kidd.

By the way it was not a double foul on Stackhouse/Manu , Stack just pulled Ginobili down and then pushed his face into the court.

Dallas on 3 game losing streak, haven't been good since Kidd trade. Is this the end of the Mavericks?

Good luck to Dirk hope it's not too serious..

For all intents they already were choking, and it's Cuban to blame for once again picking up players because of name-recognition and not team needs.

I'm not a doctor but it didn't seem nearly as bad as Livingston. They showed him putting weight on it after it happened.

I'm guessing he may have a torn ACL. Or, it could just be a real nasty sprain...

Dirk's injury looked serious, but it wasn't nearly as gruesome as Livingston's injury. You could see bone right underneath the skin.

Even if he misses two weeks (that's a preliminary guess from the post-game report), I think the Mavs miss the playoffs. The Kidd trade is going to prove very detrimental in the long term. They made a trade to try and win now, and it's not happening.

They were saying on the air it was both a Knee and Ankle injury, im guessing he blew one of them it sure looked like it to me. Hopefully just a high ankle sprain the way it looked.

Devin Harris had a bigger impact on the Mavericks than Kidd is now

A knee injury? Causing the loss of their championship hopes and the beginning of the end of their current era?

Man, seems familiar.

It's really closer to that Jorge Garbajosa injury except I don't think Dirk is really all that hurt. Luckily his leg didn't totally catch underneath his body, his foot was able to slide out from under him if it hadn't he would have broken his leg for sure.

I'm guessing a sprained ankle and Dirk supposedly has really lose ligaments in his ankles so that should help.

A high ankle sprain and a mild knee sprain. He's out "indefinitely".

Likely means they have to make the playoffs wihtout him, but does give them the motivation that if they can get in and hang around long enough, he might make it back and help them make a run.

Does any of that matter? Out of the 9 teams running for the playoffs, Dallas has to be the team no one is really afraid to play. With Dirk or without.

They have the same chance of winning the championship this year as the Kings do.

sucks for the mavs but thats good for the nuggets... they might be able to squeesze into the playoffs now and i think that they could actually beat the lakers or hornets... so could the warriors... though i dont want the hornets to lose in the 1st round...

so could the warriors...

Those are two of the worst teams that Den or GS could match up with. LA and NO have post presence and GS/Den give up 108 & 106 a game. Force tempo and work the paint and GS/Den are kaput. Denver is a poor road team, GS has 12 home losses.

but it would be fun to watch... i think the warriors can beat the lakers as long as they dont fold up in the 3rd....

Sucks for the Mavs...but they now know how we felt in 2004 when Webber went down on their floor...with us playing great basketball at the time, too. Hopefully Dirk heals up ok, I've had 3 hip surgeries and 2 knee surgeries, so I know what it's like to be injured, and totally sympathise with Dirk.

Only difference is that I don't think any Mavs fans seriously thought "this is our year" before Dirk went down. It still hurts, but before Webber went down it seemed like half the country picked Sacramento to go all the way.

I agree with the title that this is the end of the Mavs, but not as much for the Spurs. They always seem to rebound from disappointing seasons.

I’m also agreeing with Gargamel about Cuban picking up name players, and also letting his own players have say. Drik was the one pushing for Kidd.

They have a lot of issues against certain teams, but I needn't go any further than to point to 3 G-to-EX bigs and their open paint (and a penetrating guard). That's their downfall. They made Odom look like Dwight the last couple gms.

And we always have Delaney.

mavs weren't gonna do aything anyways. 9-8 record with Kidd with a record of 0-8 against winning teams and 9-0 against crappy teams shows you everyhting you need to know.

Jason Kidd sucks. The mavs suck. They traded away too much. They're gonna miss the playoffs. Their best player is hurt. They are getting up there in age. This team is just in the beggining of a fast downward spiral back to irrelavancy and suckage. And I love it!

I'm as broken-hearted as you. ;)

(I do hate to see any player seriously hurt, tho. Know that pain all too well.)

Mavs aren't going to get it done unless they get some inside scoring?

Maybe it's time for Brandon Bass to rise to the occasion
