After reading the game 5 thread I mentally just checked out as I was sort of shocked that half the thread is we gotta trade this guy and that guy and pointing fingers.
Thanks for mentioning that, Pam.

As a reminder, from the forum rules:

1a. Game threads. The game threads are for real time discussion of the game in progress. They are not for philosophical debates, arguments about coaching styles, heated rhetoric about certain player(s) or anything else that generally detracts from the feel of the game. They are intended to be a way for fans to share the game experience without having to be in G1C.
Game threads have been getting away from this (particularly in respect to heated rhetoric about certain players). We're here to enjoy ourselves and this playoff run, however long it lasts. Please do not make the game thread your dump for toxic negativity, because it juts brings everybody else down. Fair warning that I intend to watch tonight's game thread more closely than recent game threads have been watched.

I only came here "full time" a few years ago, even then I didn't post much, but there's been A LOT of negativity here, for good reason. The recent succes has been a blessing.

I think some of the talk in that thread was just plain old speculation on how to get better, and some was fans that still have PTSD(for lack of a batter term) freaking out at... not really sure.

Feel free to use the ignore feature (click their name and select ingore), it does make this place more bearable when things go south.
Thank you for the ignore click button I hope you weren’t kidding hahaha because I’m on it as soon as i get done reading updates

If we could keep looney to under 13 rebounds, that would be great and I'll like our chances.

of course that isn't the only thing we need to work on, but that's been the glaring weakness all series. He's destroying our team and mainly Sabonis on the boards.

Box out, get the boards, and give us more opportunities to score the ball.

The timeline:

> non-flashy extremely competent GM takes huge risks and puts together a team around our franchise player, owner finally stops meddling
> hire dark horse candidate head coach
> people laugh for thinking we're gonna get 40 wins
> team outperforms the first half, in the playoff hunt
> makes no major moves at deadline
> people say we'll get overtaken by teams who brought in HOFers
> we go on a tear after the ASB and shoot up to clinch the third seed
> fans elated, 1000 gather after midnight at airport to welcome the team home
> shock the defending champs taking first two games
> champs wake up and go champ mode
> almost take a game on their home court
> lose game five

Fans: TRADE HALF THE ROSTER

Makes sense.

/sarcasm

Some of you fans are crazy but UNCLE VINNY STILL LOVES YOU!!!

GO KINGS!!!!
Thanks Vinny for really summing up my thoughts exactly

I thought in the last game our guards were poor in managing the game. Too much hero ball, not getting the ball to open men in the corners, not being patient and willing enough to deliver the "hockey assist," forcing drives into areas that were far too tight and then getting passes intercepted because of it. And all of the foregoing made it incredibly easy on GS to defend. What a disaster. Talk about not trusting your teammates. My God. It all boils down to this: You either win together or you lose together. Stop trying to do it all by yourself. Make GS work on defense and pass the freaking ball several times to get easy shots. If you miss wide open shots, so be it, but at least you didn't play stupidly. Remember what got you here.

I think fox gave it his best shot in game 5. Came out tremendous and then it seems like at some point in the game either his finger got hit or the adrenaline wore off. He was clearly hampered in the second half (fourth quarter in particular). I think he really should have been benched in the 4th because I think he hurt us down the stretch (because of his finger....), but I completely understand Brown keeping him out there.

At this point, game 6 feels a bit like a hope and a prayer to me, but maybe that's just the disappointment of game 5 not yet wearing off. I think we can shock the world, but it's going to take the floodgates opening on the three point shooting. We need an overwhelming barrage of threes to fall since I think Fox will probably continue to be less effective than normal, and I don't think we have a whole lot more adjustments on the defensive side of things to make at this point. Go Kings!!
I’m really hoping we can find a way to limit their easy baskets. I think that’s really where they’re killing us, although 3 pointers can be pretty demoralizing. Their offense is tough enough to stop, so giving them a bunch of easy layups is just the worst thing you can do.

I think we need to dance with the one who brought us to the ball. Just keep shooting is what I say.
I really hope huerter comes out letting it fly. One of two things happen in my opinion. Either we come out defeated from the get go and end the season with an “as expected” game 6 loss….OR, we come out super loose with a feeling of “nothing to lose” at this point, go wacko from three and somehow pull it out as the warriors’ sphincters tighten up at the end. I vote for door number two.

I took the opening night loss to the Blazers harder than I’ve taken any of these Warriors losses. This team is in a fantastic position moving forward. We have hung with the reigning champions shot for shot, and played remarkable defense. I’m going to crack a bottle of wine and enjoy tonight for what it is. Unfortunately I’ll be on a delay because my sons game won’t end until 6ish.

Honestly, a lot of the time it feels to me like Looney has been the guy tipping the scales.
Nah. That guy is basically a glorified Richaun Holmes. We missed a ton of shots and he rebounded them -- he didn't make us miss. If we're worried about Kevon Looney right now we're in our heads and have already lost. Just box the guy out and take better shots.

A guy dominating the rebounds and playing straight up solid interior defense is very valuable. We've seen Steven Adams do this and it makes Memphis a different team. If Holmes had ever done this near their level, he'd be playing a lot of minutes in this series

Indeed. Holmes is an abysmal interior defender. He brings nothing aside from a weakside block here and there.

My frustration is not with the Kings. I'm at peace with who they are as a team and grateful they've made it this far.

But I don't want the Warriors fans to have any satisfaction at all. They are worse than Lakers fans IMHO.

Looney's career playoff averages are 6 pts and 6 rebs per game. He's not any better than Richaun Holmes -- it's just the last 3 games he suddenly looks like a superstar which coincidentally lines up exactly with when the officials stopped calling fouls on the Warriors under the basket. I respect Steven Adams and what he brings to a team. Kevon Looney is not even remotely Steven Adams. He's just having a run of three good games because Draymond and Poole are punching people in the face and he's there to clean up the mess.

I’ve said all series as certain media pundits praised Looney that there are a few dozen players scattered around the league that can do what he does and more.

In game 2 and 3 the KINGS missed so many shots (11/47 from three IIRC) that someone had to rebound them.

When Domas doesn’t try to do too much and doesn’t get disrupted by a help defender, he pretty easily moves Looney wherever he wants to get whatever he wants.

If you ask me Looney was the biggest beneficiary of the post stomp officiating. He even said "I hope the give me the benefit of the doubt" heading into game 3 and ever since then he's been doing everything GS has accused Domas of doing.

I'll just be honest I think I checked out midway through the 4th Wednesday. If we extend I might be able to get amped again but I think that toxic twitter fanbase has worn me down.

I feel like Brown not adjusting to the Warriors defensive game plan is a bit disappointing in the short term, but in the long run it helps expose what individual players need to work on as well as roster issues McNair can attempt to fix over the summer.

Honestly no better test of "the blueprint" than the defending champs.

We've been playing them tough and let's not forget they're fully healthy and our two best players are gutting it out with a broken hand each.

I understand this point of view. I avoid that place as much as possible but even watching the games I get frustrated with how demonstrative the Warriors players are about every freaking play. They're getting all sorts of help from the sidelines and yet they act like they're the greatest thing to walk the Earth -- not unlike the Houston Astros of the past half decade. But I would encourage you to tune all that out if you can and watch the game anyway -- on mute if need be. Our Kings are more than capable of winning this game and it'd be a shame to miss what would be their best win of the season because of some obnoxious fans. We are the group who supported this team through 16 years of losing and right now they're only 1 game back in this series. I'm still very confident that our team will rise to meet the moment.
