SacBee: Marty Mac's World: Artest deal doesn't add up

Marty Mac just doesn't get it. "Exactly why no one knows"? So, Marty, when exactly did you escape from the troll people who were holding you deep in the bowels of the earth with absolutely no outside communication?

Sorry, MM, but just because you may not know why, don't pull the rest of us into your fantasy. Most of us not only have a really good idea why Ron-Ron is gone-gone, we're actually pretty relieved with the trade.

A panic move? C'mon Marty Mac. How long have the Kings been shopping Artest? Yeah, teams were just beating down the doors to give the Kings some great deal. I think this is a good deal to get essentially two first round picks, a great locker room presence in BJax and no aging vets or burdensome contracts. And the blessed relief of having Ron Artest be someone else's endless, distracting annoyance.

i'd say that is the main reason;)

In a week featuring Manny Ramirez dogging his way out of Boston and the ongoing Brett Favre situation in Green Bay, how can anyone criticize getting rid of Ron Artest in the off season before he has the opportunity to become a full time distraction?
