Sac / phi

I'm gonna pull my head up out of the "trade Martin for a big vortex," and I would like to propose something that could potentially help Sac and Philly on many fronts:

Sac trades:

Thomas
Martin
Nocioni

76er's trade:

Iguadola
Dalembert

Why sac does it:
Thins out the wings, establishes an aggressive backcourt, nets a defensive big.

Why 76ers do it:
They get an $8 million expiring and save over ten million dollars over the next 3 years. Plus, they don't really expect to get value for either of those players. Judging by the attitude of their fan base, this is good value.

This one has it's holes too, but it seems at least semi-realistic, given the attitude of the two organizations, and Philly's poor management reputation.

Take the Iggy/Martin part out and i'd bite, but I would think switching k9 to hilton would be more amendable for Philly at that point.

Is that because they are seeking a replacement at the 5?

The trade I mentioned works, but Philly can't take back more than that.

Yeah, this idea, or close to it, was suggested elsewhere. And it may even be possible -- Philly is apparently interested in shedding contracts, and both Iggy and Dalembert have been repeatedly mentioned.

But ponder this -- something I mentioned a couple of days ago in passing: Philly wants to shed contracts. Dallas has an obvious interest in Martin. Josh Howard has a team option year in his contract at the end of the season.

So, you send Kevin to Dallas, Howard to Philly (to shave that contract), adn Iggy to us. then complete the rest of the deal as proposed to land Dalembert as well.

My concern would be that of course Iggy would be a huge minute muncher at SG just like Kevin. hence inherently disruptive. And of course he is not a shooter. But on the other hand he is basically everythig you would want from that positon otherwise, whereas Kevin is nothign you want at that position beside a shooter. You get Iggy and Reke togetehr and your defense reboudning, passing...you dominate in all the way that win games. Wiht Omri and Donte at the SF you've got more length and defense...Its not perfect, and I am satisified with a Cisco/Casspi/Greene 2/3 combo (wiht a little Beno thrown in) if we can get a major big instead. But if not, Iggy is a MUCH better fit than Kevin, and if Reke/Casspi/Donte/Beno can hit enoguh shots, you are talking about a crew that could be just about the best defensive perimeter group in the game in a year or two.

Interesting idea Brick, but the salaries don't quite work. Plus, you ought to improve the value for Philly and make it a little harder on Dallas (which should not be able to get a player of Kevin's caliber for mere expirings). Hence, this deal:

To SAC:
Dalembert $12 million
Iguodala $12.2

To PHI:
Dampier $12.1 (only partially guaranteed next season)
Howard $10.0 (expiring)

To DAL:

Martin $9.6
Nocioni $7.5
Armstrong $2.8

I still think Philly would need more incentive--although shedding $24 mil in salary ain't bad. It would be a lot of spending on the Kings' side, but the talent is a better fit and can contribute to winning now.

Dallas isn't giving up Dampier -- he's too key for their title hopes.

They might give up Gooden. In any case though this isn;t about fairness or punishing people or anything else. Jut baout us getting what we need to get -- everybody else can screw themselves for all I care (obviously if Philly needs more (note that Howard has that team option, so its not a true expiring) then they need more. And if Dallas can be convinced to give it up rather than us, great. But its nto about fairness or anything from my perspective. Just getting those guys we want at the least cost we have to pay.

Igoudala and Dalembert would surely help us. Plus, those two guys are relatively young so they could be a part of the future of the team.

Sure, I do it. We instantly go from one of the worst defensive teams in the league to possibly one of the better ones. I'd say top ten ( on paper of course ).

If you start Dalembert, Thompson, Greene, Iggy, and Evans .. thats a good defensive unit. Realy good. Its athletic and big. Still gives Reke the PG mismatch. I like it. Doesnt solve the swingman logjam though, but other deals can be made to solve that.

Im just blowing smoke here - but imagine if we then turned Casspi, Hawes or JT, and Nocioni into Al Jefferson? One can dream.

I don't care about fairness, I care about getting a deal done. Thus, you need to massage the pieces a little to get Philly on board. If they're not, then the whole exercise is pointless.

I saw Gooden's numbers as a starter tonight, albeit against the Knicks, and figured they'd consider moving Damp. They're not even starting Howard right now--getting Martin for that would be acoup for them.

This looks very promising, I hope to see something like it go down. That is, of course, if we can't land a superstud 4/5.

I don't think you get rid of Casspi. He's a perfect 3. He's aggressive and can drive, but a good outside shooter that can stretch the defense. He's apart of our future.
