Successful Trade Scenario
Congratulations on a successful trade.

Due to Sacramento and New Jersey being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Sacramento and New Jersey had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Why for us: We have too many wing players and we need to get a PG. Marcus Williams was decent when he got time, but he's never going to get a shot with Harris there. We clear minutes for Thompson/Hawes by getting rid of Moore and we get a nice back up big for them in Boone. Boone is the perfect guy there, he's 6'10'', athletic, long, and a good defender.

Why for NJ: They clear a year off of Hassel's contract by swapping him for Moore who has a buy out option on his contract for the last season. They have no need for Marcus Williams with Harris there. They also don't need Boone with Sean Williams, Krstic, Yi, Lopez, etc. They can use a wing player and some shooting, Cisco is the perfect guy next to Carter or whoever they plan to play at SG. He's a nice replacement SF for RJ and he doesn't cost them much.

Thoughts?

It's not bad, but I think I'd rather have Moore/Garcia than Boone/Williams. I don't think Marcus Williams is very good (there's a reason NJ wants to get rid of him -- not like they have a real backup PG), and I'm also not sure we have that much of a need for Boone. He's ok, but I would hope for a bit more value if we're going to trade Moore and Garcia, both of whom are reasonably valuable trade chips.

yeah this doesn't really fix our problems. Our problems are KT, SAR, and Millers contract. Garcia is an assett and Moore expires next season so he isn't killing us. As nbrans said Not sure Williams is the answer at pg.

Garcia >>>> Marcus Williams.

Moore >>>> Boone.

Hassell is just a filler.

We get totally ripped off on this trade.

IMO it's not fair to compare Moore to Boone. Boone is a good defender and he's young. Mikki's not in our plans. If you look at it this way it's a lot more even:

Mikki=Hassel
Boone/Williams=Garcia

Garcia is worth more than that package..

Douby/Williams swap makes sense...MAYBE.

I'd rather target one of Crittenten/Lowry personally.

it doesnt fix anything.... might as well just trade garcia for marcus williams... he'd be a good back up pg. but it would be perfect if we trade brad for hinrich too... it would give hawes/thompson/boone tons of playing time and a back up pg.

Nothing against Boone because I am sure he is a nice guy, but he really isn't very good. He was thrown into the starting role because the Nets had nobody else. He wouldn't solve any of our problems.

If one believes that Garcia is part of our future youth core, then it makes no sense to trade him. You can't just keep shuffleing young players around. At some pt you have to settle on who your going to keep and let them play together. Its alright to add to the group, but if you keep changing it there's no chance for chemistry to develop.

I dont know, i like havin Moore around, as a bench guy he would be perfect, im not really interested in anything they have to offer anyway, im sick of all the minor moves the Kings make that really dont do anything.

Well, he is already 27, right? I like Cisco and would love to keep him around as an energy 6th man type but he's by no means untouchable. I'd say the young core is definitely Martin, Hawes and Thompson, with Cisco playing an important role but not completely essential. Douby and Shelden are ?s for now.
