rockets vs spurs !!

Did you guys see Popovich's post game interview on TNT? Absolutely classic. They asked him how Tmac got hot, and he said something like "I dunno how he got hot, good players just do that" and he gives the guy this look like "are you kidding me with these questions?" Haha, the look on his face was priceless.

Would you have said that if Peja did that instead of TMac?
Doubtful.

Anyway, that was easily the most amazing stretch of scoring in a short period of time that I've ever seen, next to Miller's NY heroics of course.

Isiah's performance against Bernard King in the 84 playoffs (16 pts in 1:33 to tie game) was pretty good. That was the playoffs, but TMac's shots were infinitely more difficult. I also remember Rodney Rogers hitting 3 treys in about 20 secs vs Utah in 1994 to come back from 9 pts (before Denver lost on a shot by Jeff Malone). These certainly aren't common performances so to borrow a phrase by an unnamed broadcasting homer/hack, "If you don't like that...you don't like NBA basketball!"

Yep. We are talking about a regular season game here. This is not a Bob Horry 3 or Kirk Gibson Home run.
Noting Houston's record and the toughness of the West, I'd say that performance was indeed important.

Get a grip Gargy, no one said it was unimportatnor inimpressive. Put you stik down and move one. If you look at teh start of this thread you will see my reaction WHEN it happend. It will be a highlite vid for about 5 mor days and will make some reals at the end of the season, but is this really the kind of performace that folks will be talking aout in 10 years? Some how I doubt it,

You said it wasn't that important. I guess you can say pretty much nothing is that important in a regular season game going by that logic.

I think Spurs and Rockets fans will remember this game in 10 years, yes. In general, this will be something people remember McGrady by because something like that happens once every 10 years if that. I don't like McGrady all that much, but I've seen a lot of poo-pooing over what he did yesterday. Some people are calling it a fluke. He deserves props. That was clutch x9.

Oh please. It was one amazing lucky stretch. Great stuff. But one game. And a bad sign for Houston that they were even in that positon. McGrady isn't going to do that regularly, obviously.

Only way it assumes any significance other than a fun footnote is if it becomes a rallying point for Houston and they go off on a big run. The performance itself was just...cute. Its nothing to build off of. Nothing you can repeat. A one-shot deal.

I can still hear the play-by-play and color commentary from that Rodgers string of three pointers (just for fun and paraphrasing heavily)...

Play by play: "Pack to Rodgers in the corner for a three...good."

Color: "OK, we need a steal."

Play by play: "Nuggets get a steal, Rodgers takes another three from the corner...same spot, same result!"

Color: "No need to foul now."

Play by play: "Pack with another steal!"

Color: "Don't rush the shot"

Play by play: "Out to Rodgers for another three...HE GOT IT! HE GOT IT!"

Love that sequence.

well, i , for one, still thinks TMac is underrated by most. as the season goes on, he and Yao will smooth it out to become very a fearsome duo.
