Rock Band Draft - Round 6 (Wrap Up)

I only read down to she was the second woman taken, her and Prince...so I was just correcting you. But having read your comment, I don't think I needed to post that.

So now we will get the bar set by Sackings7 - cannot wait to see what kind of rhythm section he puts in. Some good stuff to choose from!!

Tradepeja: I think your pick is brilliant and ballsy I have tried to reconcile myself to picking a girl for my band - still might - but I like that you did it!

In the wake of tradepeja's female pick, let's start a female trend and pick all females for the rest of the draft! What do you say?!?

That would actually work for me, as I have one on my list should the other person be taken, but I don't think you'll get a vocal majority here.

Er...?

I had even considered an all female band to start things, and then kept on trying to figure out an appropriate female singer for my sound, but I think the over the top heavy sounds everybody seemed to angle for rapidly moved most female artists out of reasonable range for most bands. This is strictly a sausage party crowd. :p

I'd comply. It would push me off plan A, but I would not feel derailed completely if I had to go that route.

But I vote no on the rule. I have already made up posters promoting my concert since I figure losing my 5th member would be something of an upset especially if we stick to the "no two guys from the same band" guideline that only one person in the game has betrayed...

Maybe in the next version of the game (which I want to play so bad... ) it can be required that you have at least one female member.

Let me know soon though guys... I have the proofs of my poster off at the printer now! I have to call and abort if I have to scuttle member 5 in favor of a chick.

We are supposed to make posters? Boy am I screwed.

You're OK. I don't think we can make a rule change with one pick left in the draft.

Damn, I just realized my band won't work as my next pick was going to be assigned 3 duties. I'm gonna have to change my direction a bit. Sorry guys

I'm fairly certian this suggestion was in jest.

Posters? I didn't even know they were supposed to play together ;)

Sorry for what? Are you going to take the full 24 hours? You can PM me if you need help or someone to bounce ideas off of for you last couple picks.

I hope not. I had my 2 picks ready to go, but now I have to think things over again. I'll try to be quick about it

You know Sackings7... in the wrapup as I understand it there is lattitude. In my band, no matter what the rules are, Paul will take the keys for some songs, the mike for others... when Paul plays piano Keith will play bass if needed. In the dynamics of a 3 hour show (that's right my band is going to play 3 full hours unless we wind up being a warmup band for the winner)... there are role switches.

So unless you are going to have a guy play guitar and trombone on the same song... I think you can take advantage of versatility to a degree in the wrapup.

I was just kidding about the poster but - I have imaginated this thing pretty heavy and do have a mental poster, a band name, and album name/tour name all sketched out :D

Guess you could say I went mentally overboard on the whole thing lol that's why I'm itchin for the next iteration of the "design a dream band" game. It's pretty fun and has made me enjoy music more thinking about it.

Yeah I just decided that i may go with my original #4 anyway, and hope that there is flexibility. Because he would be a vital member one way or another. He'll be up in a sec. I've narrowed it down for my #5, so I'm getting close with that one as well

You'd help him to a drummer?

There is still a drummer out there so good I've thought of snagging him and going with dual drums. But Bonzo hits it so big that it would just be ridiculous...

I've decided not to go with a bassist, and try something a little different than the rest of you. Instead, I'm going with another great, who will fit in nicely with my band, seeing as he was a member of "the greatest band ever to watch in concert". my #4 is:

Pete1977.jpg

Pete Townshend - Lead Guitar #3/Rhythm #2 + Synthesizer (From The Who)

He will be singing backup vocals as well (if he is allowed of course). He of course will not be playing guitar AND synthesizer at the same time. Not sure if songwriting is being taken into account, but he is also a great songwriter.

Wow! Townsend and Hendrix together! I always thought these guys had a pretty big rivalry going on.

Yes I think "A Film About Jimi Hendrix" starts out with Pete telling the story of how they argued backstage about who would go on last at Monterey Pop. Each saying "I'm not going to follow you on". If I recall it ended up with Jimi saying "if I'm following you on, I'm going to pull all the stops". Then he went out and lit his guitar on fire during Wild Thing.

And finally, I decided to go with one of the best metal drummers. Not a big fan of his band, but he's definitely a great drummer

Dave Lombardo - Drums (from Slayer)

I'm kind of in a rush here, and I don't wanna hold this thing up. Will look for some videos of my last 2 picks later on

So, no bass player, a singer, a metal drummer and three lead guitarists... interesting concept.

There have been quite a few groups in indie rock that have gone with two or three guitarists and no bass. Generally, one of the guitars tune down towards the lower end though.
