Crap. This means Bricky is up. He has a chance to steal my pick.
Didn't Brick just pick Bach?or mine.... I'm anxious to see how the dominos fall from here till my next pick - could be very interesting.
At least we can hope he won't take 23.9 hrs to do it.
Steven Tyler -- Lead Vox + Piano/Keyboard
Okay, I had been toying with a clever idea for the lead vox spot, but in the end I'm already trying to meld two styles into one,and throwing in another wildcard was probably just too much. Especially given this pick. Now admission time: I got tipped off to making this pick some rounds ago by a well meaning competitor. Would like to think I would have come up with it myself, but hadn't got beyond the doodling stage for my lead vocalist at the time. And this is certainly a major figure, and not everyone can do what I need them to to fit my band theme. Was almost going to avoid him just because of the tip and go with my darkhorse, but the more I listened to his stuff the more I became conviced that this is the guy to really kick my funk/metal fusion band over the top. You listen to him on Walk This Way, Dude Looks Like a Lady etc., and its just perfect. Yet more color to my ultimate image crew as well. Let him scream while Lenny carries the melody. Let him groove by himself. We're just about set now. As an aside, he can play the piano/keys and we mgiht sporadically make use of that on an occasional slower song, but obviously he's the frontman, and for the most part I want him out there humping that mike stand.
P.S. Ooh, and this means we get Liv as a groupie too.![]()
I select at rhythm guitar/lead #2 (I am downgrading Fogerty to lead #3 and Rhythm)... I select the dark master of hard rock/ father of metal:
Tony Iommi lead #2/Rhythm guitar known for work with Black Sabbath + Ozzy.
Tony's style and sound on the Gibson SG are a perfect compliment to Angus Young. Tony is more of a laid back guitar player making him and Angus the yin and yang of hard rock... what are you going to do? This is a steal in every sense of the word. Also, Ozzy would be nothing without Tony Iommi's guitar sound... Tony is what was special about Black Sabbath.

Maybe I was over-doing it, but even Ozzy's solo career included a lot of Tony Iommi.Black Sabbath was nothing when Ozzy left, they were still good but not as great when Ozzy was still there. Meanwhile Ozzy went on to have a great solo career.
Fogerty + Angus + Iommi + JPJ = Hard Rock Supreme! Fogerty's voice and songwriting was made for Hard Rock... just listen to CCR's harder stuff. Fortunate Son, Travelling Band, Green River... Then imagine insane hard rock guitar behind it... it is a mezmorizing thought.Fogerty + Iommi? Interesting.
I like the Iommi pick. Nice and evil.

Sorry, I was thinking of Tony's solo career including Ozzy.? I don't think so. Unless you are talking about the Black Sabbath reunion which was done only for the Ozzfest.

...so while I was half tempted to avoid him just because of the tip and go with my darkhorse..
But you know it's true.![]()
Was Ozzy Sabbath more influential? Agreed. But Dio rocked in his own way. He definitely had an edge in mysticism and overall musical creativity. That is to say, I don't think Ozzy gave as much musical input as Dio did/does.
Ozzy would be nothing without Tony Iommi's guitar sound... Tony is what was special about Black Sabbath
So are you guys saying that Black Sabbath was better with Dio as frontman instead of Ozzy? Now that's Blasphemy to me.![]()
I agree with this. what I was disputing was this:
Without Tony, Ozzy never would have come on to the music scene... the odds are so staggeringly against it, it is hard to comprehend. A frontman's success is almost always a product of the musical talent behind them... Ozzy got famous on the shoulders of Iommi; Ozzy never rocked a tasty riff... Steven Tyler would be nowhere with out the other guys. Robert Plant was famous, but mainly because of the other guys... see.
Sorry guys i was at a school camp for the last couple days so i couldn't post in time. Heres my pick thoe....
Cliff Burton - Bass - Metallica (When they were really good)
Duke, I blame you for me not being able to sneak in this pick. That's ok, though, I'm still overall in good shape.
It's all good. In retrospect, he would not have fit with my theme so much, but still a great pickup.lol, sorry bout that. and that pick is great by the way. I love Cliff Burton, too bad he died too young. He was one of my backup picks for my bassist.
That is a solid pickup for your group.Booyeah! I get the drummer that I absolutely must have to tie this together. I had no alternatives.
Stewart Copeland - Drums and Percussion
Best known for his work with The Police, he has had a decent solo career as well. Later I will post some links.
