Rock Band Draft - Round 6 (Wrap Up)

Dave Grohl - drums/background vocals

TRULY BRUTAL!!!!

That was my next pick, I've been counting down ever since my first pick.

Outstanding man.. but BRUTAL for me (actually better now than a dozen picks out from now)

By the way it was my pick based on the "keep the options open" philosophy too...

first one I have felt was "snatched from under me" even though everyone is making cool and interesting picks

I wish there was a way to hear what our epic bands would sound like.....I'm sure some of us are going to going to come up with interesting idea's for bands that could be HUGE if such members were to team up.

I tried that last night...you can attempt to mix by opening multiple tabs to different youtube videos and play them together. I was playing with the volumes and start times of them. It sounds epic:D.

Me too.. By the way LP, Kingzrool posted a question to u if u wanted to keep #14 or go with #16. Perhaps u didn't see it?

Unfortunately, it seems that he did not. I am thinking he will want to keep his spot now that he has revealed his first pick. But I will allow him to still take the 16th spot if he decides so BEFORE AleksandarN makes his pick. Once AleksandarN's pick is made, the order is finalized. The perils of last minute changes will make the voting process easier.

Seems it would be fair to all parties if you were to allow him to have the bookend pick back beginning in the 3rd round.

But frankly in a 5 round draft I think the 14th pick is marginally better than the 16th. I'd be shocked if anyone came up with the same name for their bands.

Lars Ulrich - drums/producer/lead song writer/etc.

I know there is no roles for producer/ song writer but he is a true musical genius. Too bad he is an ******* but he is my *******. He had made some epic drum beats through out his career. Some call him overrated i do not think so. Some drummers might be more technical but Lars definitely the most creative i have heard.

For me, the drums were the only thing that made Metallica listenable. Really solid and yet flexible. The guy did drums his way.

Biggest problem with Lars is he can't play their best stuff live. And the whole personality thing. I saw an interview somewhere where he talked about how he got over his cocaine habit, funny, if you saw Some Kind of Monster you'd have got the impression that Kirk and James were the only ones with substance issues - well other than the substance of Lars's overpriced art collection.

I am actually a fan of Metallica. There's no doubt this guy can play. He wasn't really on my radar though. Then again, I haven't thought about my drummer too much yet, aside from Grohl

I have a question about Lars. When did he do vocals?

I don't listen to the newer stuff, but nowhere on the first four albums or early EPs are vocals mentioned and his wikipedia entry does not list vocals. The only mics on his kit appear to be micing drums and his amg credits do not list vocals:

I was wondering the same thing about Angus. I don't think I've ever seen him listed as backup vocals

Don't worry, the list of singing drummers lead or backing is rather small, especially if you want them to be any good at drumming.

I have just had a revelation with my band.

It probably won't be popular.

But I really don't care.

If anyone picks either of my next two picks I have secured a license to induce e-harm on the subject.

...

;)

*Update*

Any of my next three picks.
Heck...
Any of the rest of my band.

Beware the e-harm.

As much as I like Metallica, picking Lars really never crossed my mind. He is a great drummer though. Good pick.

I finally managed to narrow down the directions I wanted to go to three band styles, one of which was elminated when Flea was picked (thanks for that bozz)

Another choice was to go soulful, with roots in Mo-Town, Jazz and Blues, but I couldn't quite get the elements and band members straight in my head for that one.

So, screw it, after my Surfer Girl overload in the Babes Draft and picking up the Woodie in the Classic Ride draft, I'm going for the three-peat.

And lest ye think my band's going to be nothing more than an intense and energetic one-trick pony, I'll add the heart, mind and soul of the Beach Boys for good measure,

Brian Wilson - Bass / Back-up Vocals (Associated with The Beach Boys)

Of course, Brian can also play the keyboards (and piano) but I suppose I'll have to leave that skill for a later member of the band.

And considering Brian was the mind behind "I Get Around" "Good Vibrations" and "Surfin' USA" (among many others) he'll fit in just fine with the overall fun theme too

"Dimebag" Darrell Abbott - Lead Guitar

RIP. His rifts were legendary. He for me was greatest of all time. What a shame his life was cut short:(. We will never forget your brillance.

Great pick. I like Dimebag, I think he was one of the best out there, but not the best one for me. Anyway, i like how your band is shaping up so far, Dime and Lars would kick ***.
