The Sacramento River Cats have updated their logo for the first time since the team arrived in Sacramento seven years ago.
The team unveiled a new set of logos Wednesday at a fashion show to benefit River Cats Independence Field at Spataro Restaurant and Bar in Sacramento.
Gone are Tower Bridge and the jagged, all-capital letters. The new logo uses a cursive, more flowing script, and pops out more. The lettering now matches what has been used on the team jerseys. The River Cats wanted to keep the colors and imagery the same, but update the logo to some degree, said Gabe Ross, assistant general manager. "I think it's simpler in a good way," he said Thursday.
"We are constantly seeking to keep our brand fresh and the River Cats and Raley Field experience exciting. This is part of that ongoing effort," Alan Ledford, River Cats president, general manager and chief operating officer said in a news release.
The River Cats open their 2007 home schedule March 29 when they host the Oakland A's at Raley Field Individual tickets for the exhibition game and regular season games at Raley field go on sale at 10 a.m. March 3.
