Reversing the road curse @ Joey B's

#1
I'm as superstitious as the next person and the M's really need to start notching some Ws on the road, since they will ahem, spend most of July on the road.

Sunday's game against Houston is going to be televised...and I'm strongly considering heading downtown to Joey B's to see the Monarchs win a game while I'm there. (so strongly am I considering it, it's pretty much for sure I'm going to go). Besides, since its an early afternoon game - I may actually have a better chance of sampling their bread pudding before they run out of it or their other desserts for that matter. :)

Anybody up for joining me? I'm planning to get there by about 2:30 for a 3pm tip. I've got a few days to figure something to do to change the fates. And, I've got my fate changing work cut out for me all weekend anyway because they need to get that win in Charlotte tomorrow......

Dangit! I still haven't been able to make one of these viewing parties.. and this Sunday won't be any different! One of these days I will make it to a road game viewing party. I could be the mojo that is missing ;)

I might be able to make it. But I'm not sure, since my parents from the S.F. Bay Area are visiting this weekend. I have never been to Joey B's.

Good luck, anyway! I hope the Curse of Joey B's is defeated on Sunday!

If the curse somehow still holds after Sunday, perhaps we might have to figure out another place to view our Monarchs' away games!

Who is televising the game? My schedule says it is not televised.

**runs to check the M's website**

According to the Monarchs website, the game is on NBA-TV.

According to the Houston Comets website, the game is on NBA-TV as well as Fox Sports Southwest in Houston.

If they do get FSSW it would be blacked out here too for the same reason.

But I've spoken with the manager and here's the scoop....they do get NBAtv and they're more than happy to accomodate us if it will be televised. If it will not be televised, I'm bringing a pretty good sized radio that we can use as a backup and listen along, the manager said they have outlets back there that we can use. The Mystics/Mercury game will tip @ 6pm and we could always make it a marathon...:)

I'll be @ Joey B's @ 2:30 to get our table in the back and get the radio plugged in and ready.

Thanks to everyone who came with hopes of reversing the road curse...we had fun and good food...but Joey B's is now 0-4. And still no bread pudding. :(

Gotta re-work the mojo.

Oh, a handful of us (well maybe not that many - we just made noise like we were a bigger crowd ;)) hung around and watched the Mystics/Mercury game...the Mystics coming back on the road, on the second night of a back to back without their leading scorer made the earlier game drift into a distant memory. (At least distant enough that I didn't think about it until I got back in front of a computer).

Always cool being with Monarch fans...winnings always better! Well I guess if were gonna lose, may as well be with friends! Read that ''YO'' said who ever made the scedule needs to work on their geography...Ha! She said it's bad for all the teams! No excuse just facts, they did look weary.

Yes, it was disappointing. But I will chalk this loss to the Comets simply due to exhaustion. Having played a game on the East Coast on Saturday, and flew to Houston right afterwards for a game on Sunday, I think our girls were just too tired.

As for the "Joey B.'s Curse", maybe it's because all of the Monarchs opponents were just stronger teams? Maybe the next time, let's find a pushover team to see our girls play against! :)

Alrighty...I'm going to toss this out now, and we can kick it around for a while and see if it's do-able.

I say, for the next weekend away game (which according to my schedule is Sat July 22nd against Minnesota) we meet somewhere like a park/backyard with BBQ facilities and gather around a radio w/a potluck? That is, if it's not 1,000 degrees that day. If it will be scorching hot, we can settle on a plan B. But do I have any takers for this idea?

Anyone? Anyone?

Sounds like a great idea! Anyone know the weather predicted for that day? And what's a good location with BBQ's and shade?

I'm for the bbq if we can find a decent place. I don't have a big yard.

If it is hot, I volunteer my gas bbq grill and my place. I will be alone that weekend.
