Bench
So. Do you trade Buddy Hield for a late pick or sf? Is there even a market for him? Or do you try to convince him to be a hired gunner, a Lou Williams/Jamal Crawford player?
Yes, yes and yes.Buddy has a role on this team. I just don't like him starting. He can come off the bench and give you points. If he is off his game, take him out until he develops his game further, if at all.
Oh there is NO problem with Buddy in any role. However, I was listening to Grant today and his rhetoric about drafting the best player regardless of fit. So I was curious to start a discussion on whether Bogie is a legit 2 going forward and what to do with Hield if Bogie is that guy.
I love them both just fyi. I would try to convince Buddy to gun off the bench. But is it smart with his value and or feasible with our future?
If we pick Ayton, I would trade out WCS for a SF or a pick that gets us one (Bridges???)!As far as fit goes..... if we draft a 3, I like Bogs as a starting 2 and Buddy as our 6th man who puts up points. Bogs and Buddy can play alongside each other too, so there should be plenty of minutes to go around.
If we take one of the bigs, then something will have to give. Especially if Giles comes back and lives up to all the hype he's getting about killing it in practice (I really hope he gets NBA minutes this year just so we can make better decisions come draft day).
I've already written off Papa. KK and Z-bo aren't part of the future. But you gotta wonder if WCS won't end up draft day trade bait if we end up picking Ayton.
I love Willie when he's on, but the dude is so inconsistent, and with his wacky ego, you gotta worry about how much he'll want in an extension. I don't want us to overpay, but I would hate it if we lose him for nothing.
I'd also hate it if we end up in a Philly situation, where they had too many bigs, so everyone lost value and development time.
Anyways, I'm just rambling. Vivek will probably trade our pick for a rental of Paul George so we can make the playoffs and this whole conversation will be moot (jk)!
I'm wondering how Bogdan is not a 30mpg starter yet
He will eventually, but right now Joerger is just doing a ton of experimenting. Assuming Frank Mason takes back his role and we don't trade any PGs, I think we will see Bogdan more as a SG and off-ball player. There's just too many on-ball players on the team.I'm wondering how Bogdan is not a 30mpg starter yet
I feel the same with WCS. Willie stepped into BIG shoes when Boogie was traded. Willie will never be as good as DMC, but that doesn't make him expendable trash as some seem to think. Why would you ever trade Buddy for a late 1st rounder? What are the odds that player is going to be as good as Buddy? Slim to none. He's doing great -- the problem is everybody is always going to expect more because he was one of the main pieces in the DMC trade.
I can’t speak for anyone else but that could not be further away from the truth for me personally. If WCS can average 10 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 steals over the course of the season then you won’t hear much complaining from me about WCS. With his length, athleticism and speed, there is absolutely NO reason why he cannot average those numbers of the course of the season. It’s all got to do with his willingness to do it. He should be one of the best defenders in the NBA with his tools but he is not.I feel the same with WCS. Willie stepped into BIG shoes when Boogie was traded. And I agree those would be great averages for him. I don't think Willie has lived up to his full potential either, merely pointing out some seem to have thought he should be held to the same standard as Boogie simply because they play (played) the same position.I can’t speak for anyone else but that could not be further away from the truth for me personally. I'm worried about Bogie.
If we keep playing s**t like we do, he's gonna bolt.
He's a 25 year old pro who really hates losing and just wants to win. If we cant do that for him he's gone.
Pops already showed love for him and would probably almost throw everything outside Kawhi to get him.
