Remaining 22 Games What is your prediction?

16-6 is way too far fetched, 500 is what i expect. Teams that have made a major trade in the mid season have never made a noise in the playoffs unless its the team that got the star. I expect philly to make some noise in the east maybe reaching the ECF, but the kings i dont think so. I watched yesterdays game and i could see that the players didnt want to compete, the new guys were trying but the old ones had no clue. Bibby was looking for excuses every time down the floor and peja was shooting threes from the halfline. They were not used to being the top guys i suppose and they were trying too hard to make it happen.

Making the playoffs depends a lot on the other teams like the lakers/nuggets and wolves. But to me it looks like all these teams are trying hard not to make the playoffs rather than make it

I don't get it? You think we will finish higher then the 5th seed?

The teams we are playing COULD bump us to 4th if Dallas falters.. But nothing higher than 4th,and another lower than 5th :D

I am thinking 16-6

I just looked at our schedule and i do think they could win 13 of 22. In fact, i think they will do really well during the next few games at home.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOO KINGS!

Magic Eight-Ball Says ....

Kings will finish the season 11-11 .... giving them 47 wins.

Should be good enough for 6th spot.

Dallas 38-19
Sacto 36-24
Houston 33-25
Memphis 33-25
Lakers 29-28
Denver 29-29
Minny 29-30

We are 5 back in the loss column on Dallas -- be very hard for this struggling team to cacth them minus a full Dallas collpase. #4 is probably out of reach. We are only 1 up in the loss column on Houston and Memphis for #6/#7. We could EASILY fall to #6 or #7. We are up 4 in the loss column on #8 and 5 in the loss column on #9. Its unlikely we fall back to those positions either.

#5/#6/#7 are by far the most likely.

Our magic 8 balls better get together because mine is saying 14-8.....giving them 50 wins. ;)

I say 13 and 9, assuming they don't improve much. They could catch fire and do even better. The Kings are not nearlt as bad as half the fans are saying.

I preduit that they will be 49-33 at the end of the regular season and remain the fifth seed behind Dallas.

Stats are starting to look kind of ugly for the Kings.

Lets assume best case scenario for Kings and worst for top 4 Western seeds

I think its fair to say that even if the Kings go on a tear that 80% wins is about the best you could reasonably hope for. That would be 18-4 record to give the Kings a best case 54-28 record.

By the same token I think the worst you could assume the current top 4 seeds doing would be 50-50. Its just not reasonable for them to go from winning 2/3 of games to below 500 (barring major injuries that is).

So worst case records for others are

San Antonio: 57-25 (beats Kings)

Phoenix: 56-26 (beats Kings)

Seattle: 54-28 (ties Kings, they win with tiebreaker 3-0 currently)

Dallas: 51-31

So the best best case is we COULD slip into the 4 seed, but only if we surge and Dallas tanks.

Looking at Houston and Memphis, current 6 & 7 seeds, if they surge 80% wins they could finish with 52 wins each. Current #8 seed Lakers could surge to no better than 49 wins.

So in order to secure at least #5 seed Kings need to go with that 80% surge. But worst case I think they make the playoffs.

Still it's getting to where math takes over.

That last statement is not true. If the Kings win as many games as Memphis and Houston, regardless of how many that is, the Kings will maintain their fifth seed. We obviously must assume that the Lakers will not "clear the table."

I think the recent series of Kings losses is a non-recurring event that was casued by the trades, injuries, and morale problems associated with those events.

I think there is far too much pessimism around here. Just stop and consider that the problems that the Kings have faced recently. Those problems can be fixed, and probably will be fixed soon.

To ensure good mental health, Kings fans need to take a collective deep breath and relax for a few weeks.

Don't worry, be happy.

I agree that if we keep up with them its no problem.

Which was kind of my point. That 6, 7 and 8 seeds best cases aren't too much of a worry for the Kings

People underestimate Memphis and Houston a bit. Both have been considerably better than we have for the last few months. With only a 1 game edge in the loss column, means even if we were to go 14-8 over the final 22, they would only have to go 17-7 to tie us up and go to the tie breakers. Not at all impossible.

Now actually dropping to #8 is unlikely, but there the real threat is not the Lakers, but the revitalized Nuggets under George Karl. If we did struggle to an 11-11 or whatever, its not impossible, just unlikely.

It is worth noting that the Memphis Grizzlies lost four straight games in February: Indiana Pacers - 2/13, Boston Celtics 2/16, Washington Wizards 2/23, and Denver Nuggets 2/25.

Also, the Houston Rockets lost four out of five games recently: Seattle Supersonics 2/22, San Antonio Spurs 2/23, Utah Jazz 2/27, and Washington Wizards 3/2.

Neither of those teams had significant roster changes.

what if the kings turn it around? what if the kings go 20-2?

Then we'll all be like young children on Christmas morning when we've found out we got the new bicycle AND the pony!

More Publishing Clearing House showing up at our front door with baloons and a big check.

the math is just a bit off here. Seattle does not need a regular season tie-break unless they allow denver to make up 12 games by the end os the season. Division winners get the three top seeds. Assuming you mytholigical 80% surge also included Dallas playing at 500 ball. to get a four. not gonna happen. as there is no reason to suspect the kings to fall to 8 - first round will be Dallas, Phoenix, or Seattle - all w/o homecourt for the kings.

We need to ressurect this thread in 30 days and see who was on, and who was off. I'm happy with my 13-9 or better.

dang brick, been a long time since we had to measure at this point of the season - Kings 37-24, Denver (currently 9th) 30-29. 6 game lead with 22 to play = magic number 16 to make the playoffs, Who would have thought that would come into play in March ....... again. (seems like old times!! hahaha)

Yeah! I am very happy with my 14-8, especially since today's game was expected (by me) to be in the loss column.
