with our big men? h*** no. we have strong gaurds, and they are the reason we won 2 (almost 3) games against the spurs in the first round. but we need someone that can give us something inside. they dont even have to be a scoring threat. as long as they can make layups and effectively challenge shots around the basket.
So true, along as we have such a gaping hole at the 4/5, we will never go all the way. Look how much farther Dallas is going the last few years since they got some big guys that play some Defense, they match this with their full throttle offense of quick guards and they are very good. We need at least 1 big guy like this, Dallas has 3 and they do a good job of using all 3 in spots. We really need a Erik Dampier, or someone like him. I like what I see in Justin Williams, but he needs to put on some size to be effective, at least with his athletism he can help us even this season in very limited roles, the thing is he is a 14 or 15 guys and we will probably not play past 10 players this season. This can be said with a lot of teams, but I feel that Muss will use the bench, a heck of a lot better than RA did so you never know.
What gets me angry is we had a good 4/5 defender and somewhat decent offensive guy in Skinner off the bench and he equals Potato this year for us. I really wish we never made that trade, it might have been somewhat o.k. if Monia stayed, but now that he is gone, Potato is rotting away on the bench, at least till he passes his physical...if that ever happens.
I really don't blame Monia for leaving, but he would have had a heck of a chance to make the team with Muss, he is tall, athletic and had some good potential, I know another tweener, but he was 6' 8" so he might have not gotten a lot of playing time behind Artest, Cisco/Williamson. But with Muss he would be getting more use than with Adelman that's for sure. Williamson is reinventing himself with Muss which is nice to see, he has come out of his slumber off the bench and is proving he is somewhat useful, it is a contract year so go figure, but who cares maybe he can be our Bonzi this year!
