Last night before the Lakers/Clippers game Reggie Miller said"with Artest around for the full year, the Kings are a title threat".

So do you guys think this is true are not?

with our big men? h*** no. we have strong gaurds, and they are the reason we won 2 (almost 3) games against the spurs in the first round. but we need someone that can give us something inside. they dont even have to be a scoring threat. as long as they can make layups and effectively challenge shots around the basket.

Er...nope.

But Reggie is really just an unabashed Ron Ron fan, so I doubt its more than just that. No remote sniffing of a title in Kingsland until something is done about the frontcourt, and the kids in the backcourt are either seasoned or upgraded.

So true, along as we have such a gaping hole at the 4/5, we will never go all the way. Look how much farther Dallas is going the last few years since they got some big guys that play some Defense, they match this with their full throttle offense of quick guards and they are very good. We need at least 1 big guy like this, Dallas has 3 and they do a good job of using all 3 in spots. We really need a Erik Dampier, or someone like him. I like what I see in Justin Williams, but he needs to put on some size to be effective, at least with his athletism he can help us even this season in very limited roles, the thing is he is a 14 or 15 guys and we will probably not play past 10 players this season. This can be said with a lot of teams, but I feel that Muss will use the bench, a heck of a lot better than RA did so you never know.

What gets me angry is we had a good 4/5 defender and somewhat decent offensive guy in Skinner off the bench and he equals Potato this year for us. I really wish we never made that trade, it might have been somewhat o.k. if Monia stayed, but now that he is gone, Potato is rotting away on the bench, at least till he passes his physical...if that ever happens.

I really don't blame Monia for leaving, but he would have had a heck of a chance to make the team with Muss, he is tall, athletic and had some good potential, I know another tweener, but he was 6' 8" so he might have not gotten a lot of playing time behind Artest, Cisco/Williamson. But with Muss he would be getting more use than with Adelman that's for sure. Williamson is reinventing himself with Muss which is nice to see, he has come out of his slumber off the bench and is proving he is somewhat useful, it is a contract year so go figure, but who cares maybe he can be our Bonzi this year! :D

erm Justin could be that 1 or 2 years from now but if Taylor and Woods are kept we will never see it.

Sure were a threat, we gave the Spurs a run last year, with a new coach, new style, new system, this team is going to be a threat. Were better this year then we were last year.

i don't know that the kings are a title contender. but if they buy into musselman's system, play with a sustained level of intensity all season long, and stay healthy, then they might be able to make it difficult for some of the title contenders come playoff time. rebounding is gonna be a real big deal this season, even moreso than last season. maybe kevin martin and john salmons can pick up some of the slack--like they've done so far this preseason...but our bigs are the ones who are really gonna have to step it up on the glass and on defense in the interior.

Kings are not a title contender. It seems as if the roles have reversed. It used to be we as fans thought of the team as a title contender and very good, and the analysts would hate on the Kings. Now the analysts overrate the Kings (as seen by a few power rankings I have seen) this is about the tihird or fourth person Ive read or heard saying Kings are possible contenders and it's now the fans that are saying that the Kings have no chance.

I agree with Reggie we could be sleeper contenders, and a sleeper team in general.

Just don't let TheJoker read this thread, he'll go off like gangbusters.

I think Reef dominated in the second series when artest was out??? thats the only gaME where he received respective minutes he............dominated duncan in that game.... even duncan said in an interview that reef dominated him!

That gets them a better seed, but the same roster is still gonna be there in May.
