Derosa suspended without pay

NEW YORK -- Referee Joe DeRosa has been suspended without pay for throwing a ball at a fan during halftime of an NBA playoff game in Orlando.

DeRosa will miss the next game he would have been scheduled to work.

Here's the video. Go to the :28 mark to see when he throws the ball. Just nuts. And only one game. A player would have gotten a lot more than one game for this crap.

After looking at tape he soft-balled it to say the least to an irate fan who soft-balled it right back to him. Then DeRosa motioned for NBA security to eject the still yelling expletives customer.

Most of the few times I've seen NBA players hurl a ball into stands it was thrown or kicked several rows back usually in some kind of frustration or fired much harder directly at someone in anger sitting courtside.

Seems about right rule violation penalty for this, should have known better veteran ref.
