I'm much more concerned with the craziness that went on in the front office this year (and is still an ongoing concern) than Vivek supporting the Warriors. Most of this Warriors team was built while he was a one of the owners. He didn't leave Golden State on bad terms, still has a ton of friends over their and his kids grew up rooting for the Warriors. One of the games I saw him there with his daughter. I'm sure Vivek would much rather the Kings be in the finals than the Warriors, but given that they're not, why not enjoy watching the success of something he was a part of building. I would much prefer that than have him show some false hatred that is unnecessary in this case. Comparing it to other owners isn't really fair because its a unique circumstance.
It really makes you wonder how the hell this guy became so wealthy and successful. He seems to make some of the most amateurish mistakes over and over again, especially in the PR department. As bad as the Maloofs were at the end of their run here, I feel like they at least made an effort before that to always say the right things about taking care of their customers, the city, etc.
It's not even PR that bothers me. Hiding the fact that he's rooting for the Warriors would be even worse. I was nervous when Vivek took over the team because he was clearly emotionally invested in the success of the Warriors. The impression I get is that the Sacramento Kings are a business venture for him, but he's still a GS Warrior fan at heart. That's hard to reconcile as a fan of the Kings. There's nothing ethically wrong about it, they're sports teams. But just on a practical level I think every sports fan wants to know that their owner is at least as enthusiastic about their team's success as they are. It's hard for me to see how that could be true as long as Vivek continues to keep one foot firmly planted in Warriors fandom.

He can't put a winning team together until his only concern is about a winning team in Sacramento. His sports attention/energy is clearly divided.

I really don't care if he likes hanging out over there. The problem for me was the competency/agendas of people he may have brought with him from over there.
Yep....it's all not good until he can put a winning team together over here. I don't buy the "his kids may still be a fan over there" ..... Shouldn't they be fans over here with the Kings.
I don't buy that those seats are an investment either. I couldn't fathom Mark Cuban having season tickets with the Rockets or the Spurs.
And further, he's trying to emulate the Warriors and we are not built like them. Their best players are guards. Our best player is the best center in the face of,the earth but we are going to still try and imitate the Warriors.
Bottom line is he shouldn't go to these games unless its his team. How about setting that goal for himself.

Yes, Vivek is watching The Finals courtside at Oracle. Ergo, Kings are screwed. Absolutely.
To quote the league.....it is a results based league. Is it possible that our FO reputation is worse off from when the Maloofs were here? Give us a winner and people stop nitpicking.
But answer this, would Mark Cuban ever e a season ticket holder for the .rockets?

I'm a little more relaxed, and a little less psychoanalytic.
I couldn't care less if he has friends or colleagues over there at all. All it means to me is he was close to people as an minority owner.
Mullin concerned me, and now he is gone.
I have no idea what Vivek has in store tomorrow, see new people around here now.
I'm not really a us vs them sort, or us being them sort, just see a guy who got his start over there, not knowing too many people and bringing them here. Didn't work out, so now some changes have been made.

No, if Cuban had a great working relationship with Morey and Co, and the Mavs weren't in the playoffs, I wouldn't find ire with Cuban attending the games as a basketball fan. You're ignoring Vivek's previous deep relationship with the Warriors. He was a part owner. I think second in terms of owner share.
For the record, I find it disgusting that Vivek is doing this. IIRC, I was the first one to say that if he wanted to go to his buddies' games, he should sit in the owner's box and not rub our faces in it. But I also won't say that it's wrong on a sports moral/loyalty level. He can do what he wants, as long as he takes care of business first. But you can't leave your house in shambles, then go out with your friends to drink and post it all up on social media.
I think if we were where we would be without his meddling, this thread would be a lot different. Thus, our rage isn't because it's actually wrong, but because it's him. And I'm perfectly fine with that.

it's just not a good look. at all. some can call the backlash at kf.com an overreaction, but i hardly find it unreasonable to take issue with the owner of my team having his f***ing name emblazoned below the logo of a divisional rival on his personal courtside seat at their arena. perhaps a great many kings fans have marinated too long in their battered wife syndrome to find offense in tone-deaf gestures like this, but i am not one such fan...
if vivek ranadive had been part owner of the lakers before purchasing the kings, and still maintained a courtside seat for lakers games, surely those of you criticizing the backlash would take issue then? what's the difference here? because of a nearly fifteen-year-old flash-in-the-pan of a rivalry that nobody acknowledges outside of sacramento anymore? because the warriors' basketball history is not as ready-made for the distaste of other fanbases as the lakers is? because stephen curry and klay thompson are such nice boys? because if the kings had never relocated to sacramento in the first place, you'd probably be warriors fans?
i don't know, maybe i just don't get it. oracle arena is only an hour-and-a-half away from sacramento, and if the kings manage to become a playoff-caliber team in the next couple of seasons, they're gonna have to cross swords with the warriors on their way to legitimacy. personally, i can't abide the owner of my team drooling sycophantically over the success of a division rival (or kings fans who are content to do the same, for that matter). i don't imagine there are many spurs fans or mavericks fans who were rooting for the rockets after their respective teams were eliminated from the playoffs this year, and i certainly can't imagine mark cuban stepping foot in the house that daryl morey built if the mavericks aren't in houston to play the rockets...

Somewhat of a tangent to the W's courtside issue, and to break from the vitriol being spewed at Vivek, let's reflect on what's happened over the last year. A new owner, rich and business savy, but stupid in the ways of managing a basketball team, begins his reign. His ignorance (meddling, arrogance, whatever you want to call it) set us back big time. No need to review the record there. He ****ed up. But since then, and in this same single year, he got us Karl, brought on Vlade, and has purged PDA and Mullen. Tough learning curve and somewhat of a year lost at the hand of a rookie owner, but I'm feeling pretty good about where we are now, given the last decade we've had to experience. I'm not saying to give the guy an award, but I'm willing to cut him some slack right now.
As to the Warrior's love, I've weighed in on this, and it's not such a big deal to me. We don't actually have a rivalry with the Ws' right now; as it begins to take shape, I expect to see Vivek start taking sides. If we get better, it won't be so friendly. Let's check back in a year or two...

If we kept tyreke,IT we would be in the playoffs but that didn't happen.
He fired malone and we are back to square one his loyalty can be questioned.

Times have changed, like it or not, accept it or not. Vlade signed with the Lakers to end his career, same guys he started with. Do I care? No.
There is little loyalty compared to the old times anywhere. From the FO, down to the players. Money is usually the factor.
You could argue he left on terms so well that there is nothing to be concerned about. Would you feel better if the fanbase over there had torches and pitchforks about him leaving them and taking Mullin with him?

Is it too much, I mean unfathomable, that maybe he developed a trusting relationship with Mullin and some fellow insiders in Oakland. Saw how their franchise was improving and changed to be contenders, and said hey Chris why don't you come work for me?
Vivek says hey I think Mike Malone is our guy. Turns out to be a good choice actually considering our circumstances.
So Mullin recommends Pete.
Then he heeds his peoples advise.
Sees that they were wrong, and poop cans them.
Tell me where the amateurism is? Trusting his adviser or GM?

Was Vivek making leaks from the FO you think? Was the media having a field day covering us like some soap opera?

Or any other owner across pro sports doing such a thing?
