Realistic Franchise Turning Scenario

Here is another of my realistic franchise turning scennario:

Trade Miller, Hawes, JT, Beno, and K9
for
Amare, and Barbosa

Draft Thabeet with top 5 pick

With Houston's pick, draft Lawson, or Collison and let them start.

In FA, grab Hedo Turkoglu

Line-up:

PG: Lawson/Collison, Brown
SG: KMart, Garcia
SF: Hedo, Greene
PF: Amare, Filler (Hansbourogh in 2nd riound maybe?
C: Thabeet, Filler

We would have EXCELLENT offense AND defense!!

A few major flaws to point out.

Phoenix want to trade Amare as a cost-cutting move, not take on the contracts of K9, Beno, and Miller. It is nothing got to do with his talent. That trade isn't much good for them. They could get far better.

With what cap space? Are we not going to resign Amare? Hedo will demand alot more than the MLE.

Other than that, it looks good! Were this possible, for arguments sake, I'd take Collison over Lawson. He would be better suited in the distributor and defender role and would suit the team more than Lawson.

Well Jackson, Sheldon, Douby, Moore, are all off the books so we should have enough money to get Hedo in summer thiss year.

Pheonix also would not mind getting Miller since his contract expires in 2010 so they would have a lot of moneyy that year to sign people.

I cant say wed be good if we have a rookie point, rookie C, and two "fillers" as backup bigs. It leaves some holes in our starting lineup, as well as major holes on our bench, which is already probably the worst in the league.

Where did Salmons swim away to?

My dream franchise turning trade deadline:

BJax/Mikki/JT/Houston's 1st for Amare

Brad to Chicago, Drew Gooden/Joakim Noah to New Orleans, Tyson Chandler to Sacramento

In order to stay under the tax level:

Beno/Douby for Stackhouse (waived in the offseason)

Salmons to OKC for Smith/late 1st

Draft: Teague, Brackins and Christmas

2010 Kings:

PG: Teague/Brown
SG: Martin/Christmas
SF: Garcia/Greene
PF: Amare/Brackins
C: Chandler/Hawes

I like the Chandler trade. I don't want to trade JT. If you want to throw in Hawes, fine. I like the draft, but my gut tells me that before its said and done, Brackins is going to start shooting up the draft board and out of our reach.

With Amare and Chandler I'd rather draft Jennings. All he'd have to do is drive and kick/lob.

Would LOVE the trades. Heck, I would even add that 1st rounder we get from OKC in the Amare deal.

I also would want more of a pass first PG than Teague. Maybe Jennings.

Chandler would be a perfect player to pair with Amare. They would complement each other brilliantly.

I dont really like the idea of trading JT or Hawes for Amare, let alone both of them...

The chances of Amare resigning with us at the end of 2010 are way smaller then the chances of one of JT or Hawes blowing up and being an allstar one day. Yes, small chances indeed.

I'd rather take a chance on one of our homegrown bigs reaching their potential then rent Amare for a season.

...He'd take us out of the Rubio race just to bolt for free agency.

That all depends on what's important to Amare: Winning or money. If we trade for him, then we have the upper hand when he becomes a free agent because we can offer him more than anyone else. With that being said, if we can get him without giving up JT, then I think we should do it unless its like Hawes, Martin and our #1 or something.

Here's my suggestion for the core of 2009-10 Kings:

PG - Sessions/Maynor
SG - Martin/Garcia
SF - FA (Marion or M. Williams)/Donte
PF - Thompson/Kaman
C - Hawes/Thabeet

Plus maybe another wing player and a bench big.

How?
We get rid of:
Expirings: Bobby Jackson(6M)
Drop: Douby(2M) and Williams(4M)
Buyout: Moore (4M)
Trade or draft package to trade down maybe our Houston or 2nd round: Brad(11M), Kenny(8 M), Salmons(5M), Udrih(5M).
Other consolation: Reef's contract (6M)
Total salary shipped out: 51M

We get:
Draft : Hasheem Thabeet(C), Eric Maynor(PG)
Free Agents: Ramon Sessions(9M), M. Williams/Marion (12M)
Trade Acquisition: Kaman(10M)
Totally salary intake: 31M

Kaman can't play PF. Otherwise, solid plan.

You're trying to trade out $30M worth of contracts between Miller, KT, Salmons, and Beno and only propose getting a single $10M contract back. That's not going to work.

It could work if we can trade for expirings before the trade deadline. Otherwise, we'll expect some crap contracts with it.

But my idea is to establish a core of 10 players. Then you add those other contracts that might will be entangled with the acquisition of several players.
