Ray Mac's Value?

I really liked what I saw of David Stockton late last year, and with Andre Miller (Who I hope is re-signed) and Collison back to health, Rac Mac may be a bit of a surplus, so could be moved.

What sort of value do you think he'd have? One trade I had in my head was Landry/Ray Mac to Philly for Jason Richardson. Not sure that Philly would do it, but Landry would be a big upgrade to their PF ranks given the amount of spuds they have there at the moment, and give a decent PG (Or at least a backup better than Ish Smith, should they draft Russell).

We'd clear Landry's deal with an expiring contract for next year. Thoughts?

Ray Mac's value is approximately ten cents for twelve of him.

Seriously doesn't every team have plenty of guys just as good as Ray McCallum?

He has the skill set of a slashing guard but didn't have that slashing mentality last year. That held him back. His real value is more than his current contribution, so if we can sell his slashing potential, we'll get some returns by trading him. As a Ray Mac fan, I'd like to see him get the green light to make stupid and embarrassing finishes at the rim, get some more experience finishing, and grow as a player, whether it be in Sac or somewhere else. I have good faith in his game.

Ray is nothing more than filler for a trade. Collision was out a huge amount last year, and the only thing that Ray proved was that he did not deserve those minutes. Can't do anything well. Not a good shooter, decent defender at best, not very good at getting to the line, not a good passer for a PG, not a good rebounder etc. He needs to be the third PG in the rotation, and even then he is easily replaceable. Unlike lawlman91, I have little to no faith he can be anymore than a sporadic backup at best. Doesn't have the attributes. He's not big, he's not quick, he's not fast, and he's not explosive. Add all those things I mentioned earlier, and you have yourself the last PG off your bench, maybe.

I really believe the thing this team needs more than anything is consistency.

You'll get nothing back for Ray McCallum. What you'll get if he stays though is a good team guy who plays hard every night. Sounds like some one who could possibly be a solid part of our bench.

Our front office needs to earn their damn paychecks and find a way to bring guys in without trading away everything.

He's filler pretty much.. Nothing more. He's a 10th-12th man who got starter minutes and put up so-so numbers. Nothing that other 10th-12th men couldn't do if given his minutes.

Not saying your wrong, but the optimist in me is giving every guy on this roster a clean slate with George Karl running the show out there. I don't think it's a fluke this guy creates winning teams with decent rosters.

Ray doesn't have any value....he is a second round pick who is still trying to establish himself in the league and whether he can crack a rotation of any sorts for a team is still the question.

Ray is cheap, good person to have on the bench deep on the roster.

To a financially strapped team trying to win now, he could in theory yield a pick or two in the second round.

Not really at his size you have to have a insane handle or insane explosiveness or being immensely crafty to be a slashing guard he does not have that skill-set at all. Andre Miller at age 39 get into the lane better than Ray.

The one thing Ray does decent is move without the ball of cuts and than is able to elevate well due to a insane 2 foot vertical.

That's what I think too. Cleveland could have used a player like him on the roster once Kyrie went down.

Yeah that's what you do if you want to move Ray for maximum value.

If we are even close to making an 8th seed run, you hold him for yourself.

If we are out of it, look for the team who has a shot to go deep in the playoffs a little thin. To them 2 seconds for that security may work. Does right by Ray, we hope one of those seconds yields a productive player cheap for a couple of years in return.

He can be our new...

Kings are clearly looking for a backup PG, and I much rather bring Miller as a third-stringer, if he's willing to. Otherwise Ray is passable as 3rd PG, but keeping Miller for another year (with transition into coaching staff in 2016) and inviting TJ Mcconnell to learn under the master for a year is by far better option.
If someone is interested in Ray, would definitely try to sell for a minor asset to use in trades this year, or just directly involve him as a minor sweetener.

P.S. Same for Stockton btw.
