Random thoughts about the Kings

Um, what? As far as I know there is NO schedule of replacing logos. I'm pretty happy with the ones we have right now.

Amen. I think the Kings have a to 5 logo in the league. I also like the Bulls, Celtics, and a couple other logos a lot as well.

My random thoughts about the Kings

Reggie Theus and A-Rod

Is it just me or do they look like long lost brothers?

My random thought:

On the eve of the Kings opening night I wonder how many times I will see the commercial for the Trans Siberian Orchestra while watching the Kings during November.

I am placing the "over and under" at 327.

As long as you've started a thread for random thoughts, here's mine --

How happy are people with the purple and silver color scheme? It occurs to me from time to time that the reason I never where any Kings gear (which I would otherwise wear proudly) is that I don't particularly like purple, actually it's pretty much the only color that I don't wear. I wear my A's gear all the time because I like yellow and green. I even have yellow and green shoes. But I'm hesitant to buy anything purple because I just don't like it that much. And seeing as I live in LA and make it to maybe one game at Arco a year, if I'm lucky, there's little excuse to put on something I don't particularly like the color of. We had blue and red before, not that long ago actually. If the subject of new logos comes up again, should we consider a color change?

Then again, purple is my mom's favorite color so she'd probably be bummed if they changed it.

re: commercials.

I find myself looking forward to those concert dates like they were summer vacation knowing that will be the end of them. At least until the next irrelevant spectacle comes to town. They really do hammer us with those damned commercials though, which is the objective understand idly so.

- I will going to the Trans Siberian Orchestra, because they awesome. If you haven't gone you need to at some point.

Purple is a power color

If there shall be any color scheme change in the future it should ONLY be to black. That is the only acceptable change.

I wouldn't wear Kings gear if I lived in L.A. either. Wouldn't want to have to deal with the constant bothering about it.

When I was in Costa Mesa a couple years ago, there was this really nice restaurant bar and they had a Lakers game on. This was right across from the training facility I was at. I had brought a Kings jersey with me just in case. So, I changed into it and went over and had dinner and had drinks. I was friends with most by the time I left.

The Kings shouldn't sign anyone else at the point. Run it by committe with Green, Garcia and Douby. If we end up sucking so be it. If we have to be a lottery team I want to have a better pick than 10.

When they came out with it, I dashed off and bought myself some of the blue and red stuff before it was too late. My least favorite colors for the purpose would be pink, purple or orange. I would welcome a change to anything else (not counting things which, strictly speaking, are not colors, like gold lame).

Purple isn't a royal color anyway, it's the imperial color. So unless they change the name to the Sacramento Emperors, it doesn't have any logical justification.

There is such a color as Royal Blue, and Royal Purple, whichis what the Kings use. Call it a Kings or an Emperor, Royal Purple is a color of Royalty, which is what a Kings is.

I recall reading a 14th century Welsh manuscript on heraldry which discussed the meanings of colors, where the colors suitable for use by princes and kings was discussed. The appropriate candidates were considered to be red, blue, or (best of all, in the opinion of that author) black. Every shield needs a contrasting "metal" (gold/yellow or silver/white), so that part goes without saying.

Almost all of us like black uniforms.

Since San Antonio already has dibs on black and silver, I nominate black and gold.

I'm not that worried about it. When Kobe gets traded most of the Lakers fans will go into hiding anyway, at least until the next playoff run. Even when the rivalry was on big-time, back in 2002 and 2003, people knew I was a big Kings fan and they were okay with it. It was more of a playful back and forth jabbing than any heated confrontation. (And pretty much everyone knew Rick Fox was a punk anyway.)

I'd be alright with the purple if they brought the black back and made the purple more of a complimentary color. I think the whole purple thing certainly didn't help with our team image (Sacramento Queens).

I agree, the Trans-siberian Orchestra is awesome. Saw them, loved it.

It's Andre Rieu (and his Yohan Strauss orchestra) who kills me. Or rather, I wish it would, so I wouldn't have to watch that commercial over and over and over.

Lol I definitely hear you on Andre Rieu.

I actually get a kick out of wearing my Kings shirt every time I drive to and thru LA area. Last 2-3 trips I keep getting more and more favorable feedback as the average guy is fed up down there with the Kobe soap opera. Even in Las Vegas at the Kings-Laker game last week, 90%+ of the crowd is Lakers but lots of quick talks with fans in our area got same thing.... fans fed up with the crap around Kobe and their inability to upgrade team. And everyone, without exception, like the Maloofs and what they are doing or trying to do.

Don't get me wrong....I love TSO as well. I think that I have downloaded all of their music from itunes.

The frequency at which the commercial is played has become a traditional running joke in my house.....the humor keeps us from going nuts.

The Kings official colors are actually purple, black and silver.

I like the purple. It was the color of royalty and emperors (the wealthy ruling class) for the same reason....purple was a very expensive dye.

I just wish they'd use a much darker purple.

On the other hand, I hate green and yellow...blecchh. ;)

One source that discusses "royal" purple:

Here's my random thoughts...

"Man, looky at them cornrows on Brad's head--damn, maybe he'd find some corncobs to eat when he's hungry...whooo, looky at that fine-honey cheerleader, wow, what a tight bod that she's got--I'd love to have her over at my place someday...oh, come-on, man, you're dream'n--she's got a big, buff and black-belted boyfriend, no doubt...now Theus, I like the guy as the head coach and I've got a good feel'n about him heading the Kings' ship, as it's in good hands...sheeesh, the damn loudspeaker system in the Arena is WAY TOO FRIGG'N LOUD, FOR EARSSAKES!...$8 for ONE cup of beer?...are you kidd'n me?WTF?Well, no beer, no dogs, no candy, no corn, no nuth'n that I'm gonna waste my money on this season, sheesh......hey, you, in front of me, put that damn sign down and STFU!...and damn, drivers suck in this town, sheesh, I mean, why do people come to a complete stop, then just sit there no moving ANYWHERE and staying still long enough to read the entire 17-million-word IRS tax code before proceeding on forward, prompted by my rabid honking with my lame-assed little bitty Toyota Prius horn that sounds way too much like a chipmunk on helium, rather than a roar of a lion, sheesh, talk about insulting my manhood...I wonder what's on tv tonight--oh, a King's re-broadcast game and I wonder if they got me on camera tonight with my spilled beer wetmark on my now-badly-stained shirt with my GF smirking ...ok, that does it, I'm getting too soft and I must GIT to the gym starting tomorrow to restore my manhood...oh, wtf, a grey hair?--way too soon for that, bucko...it's time to start drinking wheatgrass juice and eating fresh, raw and still-quivering rabbits...yea that oughta do the trick for my stamina in bed...damn them commercials on the screens in Arco...come on, I go to the game to AVOID the tv commercials, well, at least I can turn my hear'n aid off during the damn commercials...man, traffic's gonna be a biatch outta the game tonight--I'm gonna sit tight and let most everybody rush-hour outta here, then I'll saunter on out walking in nearly-empty concourses looking for that fine honey...

[The board's Tasmanian Devil edited the the much-more risque parts of my random thoughts...I keep forgetting that this is a family forum...my apologies to 21...and, maybe, she'll need to edit yet another post of mine that I'm about to post...perhaps I'll edit it myself in some way to avoid wasting 21's time]

Did we overrate our kings?

Man this year is going to hurt! I was joking when I said kings would go 0-7 without Mike and RonRon.....but I actually might be right.

Let's see how the first quarter of the season should play out.

At NO: Loss
At SA: Loss
At Dal: Loss
Sea: Win (Home opener against terrible team)
Cle: Loss (Cle is way overrated but should still beat us)
Min: Win (Artest is back as we face the worst in the league)
At Uta: Loss
At Min: Win (Will be tough but should pull it out)
NY: Loss
Det: Loss
Pho: Loss
At Pho: Loss
At Por: Loss (With Bibby we might win, but we don't)
SA: Loss
GS: Loss
Hou: Loss
Uta: Loss
LAC: Win (Got to break the losing streak sometime)
At Den: Loss

So we go 4-16 in our first 20, our next game should be a win against Milwaukee, but then we go on a five game eastern road trip. It might be worth it if we can pull Derrick Rose or OJ Mayo in the next draft.

Mike Bibby at games

Why do Sar, Hawes, Ron artest, garcia, beno all go to games when they are injured, not playing.....and mike never has! where is the support? I mean if you are the leader, support your team. I think it is a classy thing to do.

What the heck are you talking about?

THE TEAM OPENED ON THE ROAD!!! Injured players RARELY travel with their teams on the road. The only reason Hawes is there with them is because he's doing light practices, etc.
