Rally - Thursday at Cesar Chavez Park

It's after 4.30am and there's no way I'm going to be able to sleep after this. All the stuff we've had to put up with as a fanbase is worth it. I'm really proud to say I'm part of the Sacramento fanbase. Vivek is one of a kind. As are all the investors and everyone who fought to keep the team here. Even Vivek is joining in the chants!

Wow! What a rally, Watched on the telly and all was done well. Of all the interviews Cwebb was the best. Yea I know his and Richmonds’s jerseys would have vanished if we had not won the battle, Still, their presence added to the positive expectations. All of us are now expecting a much more competitive product on the floor. Was surprised that the rest of the owners on the stage were not introduced. A great night for Kings fans in the kingdom.

Would somebody be kind enough to track down a link to a video recording of all or parts of the event? I'm on a mobile device and couldn't watch the live stream. I love the reports though! Thanks!

I got there right after Napier was done and as expected I was very far from the main stage. I wish I had arrived there earlier but I'm glad I was there in time for the best part, when Webber and KJ got up on stage. It felt surreal like I was at home watching something on TV that was being recorded from so far away. Well technically it was since I had to use my 300 mm lens just to view the stage. It got so loud at one point that the familiar and welcoming pain in the ears returned.

I parked in the Downtown Plaza parking lot and as I walked to the rally it was great to see so many people dressed in Kings gear in the mall and on the streets. Jerseys were hanging from windows, the actual CWebb retirement rafter jersey was even in one. It felt like I'd gone about a decade back in time. Well worth the ripoff parking of five dollars thanks to my laziness and what ever problem caused me to wait thirty minutes before exiting the lot.

WOW. Just got back. AWESOME. Shoulder to shoulder through out the entire park. Two lines each well over a block long to get in. Carmichael Dave's RV was in the park and anyone who wanted could walk up and sign it.

Speeches were great, atmosphere better, wish everyone else could have been there. Something which was pretty cool was my girl and I were sitting on the side screwing with my phone which wasn't working well, and while screwing around with it she asks, who's that coming with the security? I kind of ignored her as I was trying to fix my phone but she says, they're coming right towards us, look. I didn't look up until they were about 15ft from me, and when I did, there he was, the Rock, he smiled at us and quickly continued on his way. That was the guy who got me into basketball years ago. Great night.

Ill give a recap of my interaction with Mitch Richmond at the Grange as security ushered him to the rally:
I yelled "mitch! Let us walk in with you! " he smiled and said " not my call man"

The rally was AWESOME! Tons of people there....I heard 15,000 but I don't know if that's confirmed.

Glad I got to sign the big banner that will be hanging in the new arena.....that was REALLY cool.

Just got home. What an amazing night. When I walked in I met Tom, one of the guys who went to Dallas. I hung out with him and some of the crown downtown folks for a bit. He got me me a shirt finally! :)

Kennadog, I was standing right behind you for like 10 minutes but there was never really an opportunity to introduce myself.

I went and picked up my wrist band and headed into the VIP section. Was about 15 feet from the stage off to the right. I took lots of video because I was there alone so I could show my wife, kids and friends who couldn't make it. I seriously got choked up when Webb came out.

Best part for me was when Gary Gerould was describing the first playoff game against Seattle in 1996 when he said the 20 minutes prior to the game he could not even hear Jerry through the head sets it was so loud. I was at that game, court-side, and it was the best sporting event experience of my life. I lost my voice before the game even started!

I almost didn't go, but I am so glad I did.

I remember why I hate downtown though. Too many smelly disgusting crazy people. Hopefully some of that changes with the renewed development down there.

If anybody heard a mexican guy with a loud wooden noise maker, that was me!

Packed! Didn't look packed on sports center because that was before 6.

Well shoot! Glad you were there though, to enjoy a wonderful night!

Ok, where are the KF pics? I should not have to be relying on the Bee for theirs. Come on, who did their fantriotic duty?

Voisin suggested that maybe Kahn was there because he helped with Indiana's arena, so he may be consulting on the new arena here in Sac.

What scares me is that he may be looking for a job and worse yet, being taken seriously.

That was also reported somewhere else but I can't seem to find it.

I think we can stop looking for boogie men around every corner. I know it's tough, but IMHO we either have faith in Vivek Ranadive or we don't. I do not see him hiring Kahn in any basketball operations-related activity.
