Race to the Bottom thread

I still don't think you quite understand my comments, but seeing that I don't have any hope of ever seeing you understand my comments, and the fact that I lack the desire to argue against you or any others who just will not see eye to eye with me or those with whom my thought process aligns, I just won't bother wasting any more of my time trying to respond.

But, just so you are aware, and once again, I actually did not say that anywhere in any of my posts regarding this topic. But, go ahead, if it makes you feel any better about yourself, then by all means, flatter yourself.

i think that newscasters who dwell on the body/mind changes induced by moving the clock forward in the spring are on to something. But just so you are aware, I'm not referring to anyone in particular or flattering anyone.

A) not sure why are making this personal.
B) you said repeatedly “I interpret” regarding his statement.

For those keeping score at home, we are now over 48 hours into an argument over whether saying "the worst record gets the best lottery odds" is acceptable shorthand for "the worst record gets the best lottery odds (but is tied with two other teams)" or whether it is an inadmissible heresy.

Since you used the terms inadmissible heresy.

Just for the record, legally “best” does not imply exclusivity so if someone says you are getting the best deal that doesn’t mean that deal is better than what is provided to others. If you want “best as exclusive” you need to specify exclusive.

And this right here is my issue with this argument...
Right but you have the requirement backward.

Best without specifying exclusivity logically and legally means non-exclusive. Since he did not specify exclusivity via “only” or other term his statement as the best odds means non-exclusive and was correct.

Hard to tell what is more painful. Legal terminology discussion or the teams play.

Well, I mean, we've kind of been experiencing this level of play since 2006 (with the exception of one "fluky" season) but, yet, here we all are, in 2026, still chugging along as if everything's just fine and normal around here...:p

Legal terminology, on the other hand, can be a completely different beast of an animal, that's for sure!

It's a purgatorious existence for sure. Arguing who is "technically right" while missing the whole point of the argument is so on brand for 2026.

Is it true that if the Kings have the worst record in the league that they will have the best chance of the number one pick? Yes.
Is it true that two other teams also share that distinction? Also yes.

Does it really matter in terms of making an argument for how the Kings should proceed? Not really. The ceiling remains the same, although the floor lowers with subsequent picks.

Can the Kings rattle off 5 more wins before the end of the season? That's kind of the number we're looking at. I think 20 wins puts us in a danger zone - and I think this team is more than capable of winning 5 games with the players available on the roster. I guess it depends on how healthy DeRozan gets.

what i have learned from this disciussion is that "hearsay" is just a couple of scarlett letters away from "heresy"
