Good win for the Monarchs tonight. Much better ball movement--only 13 turnovers--and better lane movement. They had some really nice plays under the basket, and passes seemed much crisper than they have been.
Bekka and Nikki P had monster games tonight. Bekka especially seemed to have more lift in her jumps, and had a great game underneath. Coach T said on the post-game interview with Koz & Krista Friday after the Chicago loss, that Bekka has been dealing with an injured leg. He did not say what, but her game was the best it has been since she made player of the week. Looks like maybe that leg is healing up.
Our girls are playing pretty banged-up. Ticha and Augustus had a collision in the middle of the key that took Augustus to the floor, and then out of the game for a spell. Unfortunately, it also appeared that Ticha suffered some kind of injury in that same collision to her already sore left arm. She was visibly wincing whenever she tried to dribble with her left hand. She sat out the better part of the fourth quarter, if not all of it. Yo had icepacks on both knees and quads for the same period of time. Thankfully, the rest of the gang stepped up and played well together.
The win sends Jenny-Boo and the coaching staff to the All-Star game to coach the Western Conference. Coach was very humble when this honor was announced at the end of the game, saying something to the effect that this team does not even need her to coach them, that she is going to the All-Star game because of the Monarchs, not because of anything she did. She took her jacket off and threw (2) t-shirts into the stands. Girl has an arm on her!
Nice to have this win after such a long, grueling week. Rest up girls, and come back with a vengeance!!!
