[POR/WAS] Arenas only scores 9 vs. Blazers

After bragging to the media and writing in his blog that he would score 50 points against the Blazers (led by Nate McMillan) and that the whole nation would watch him do it, Arenas managed to only put up 9 points on 3-15 shooting and 0-8 from three point range. I can't even stop laughing at the irony of it all - of you can't make good on your promises don't talk so much.

i imagine the blazers took it personally, as well, and decided that they wouldn't even let arenas get close to 50 points. he only took 15 shots. they did a good job of denying him the ball.
 
In his postgame interview, Arenas actually said that it was the fault of Eddie Jordan's for emphasizing defense after Jamison was injured, and in effect changing the identity of the team. The worst thing about it is if Gilbert scored his 50 he wouldn't have stopped writing about in his blog, whereas when he failed he deflects the blame off of himself.
 
I am not a big fan of Arenas, he was a pleasant surprise in GSW team but still didnt deserve to be credited as a super star. He shouldnt talk when he cant back it up, if he cant even cross 10 points whats the point in talking about 50. He takes way too many 3 pointers to be effective and if the calls dont go his way he is useless
 
I like Arenas, but this goes too far. If you can't walk then don't talk. I know he is capable of scoring 50, but also he isn't going to be so self-consumed that he will take every shot. He only took 15 and it turned into just a bad shooting night for an all-star. He will get back on track.
