its one of those things where you wake up, have a purpose and a job to still go to where they need you, so that in itself can be rewarding and a necessary component of long term health more from a mental aspect

Honestly I’m not that surprised. He’s pretty old and while he may already recovered from the stroke. The stress of the traveling and NBA schedule will put him at risk and for a guy that already won championships as well as have that much money is not worth it.
Even good stroke recoveries leave a lot of lingering effects. My step dad seemed to recover from his but was incredibly depressed. His last Christmas he seemed great but it was basically a goodbye tour.
Wonder if Spurs will be interested in Brown. Assume he'd want some of our assistants and we'd oblige.
San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich had a medical incident at a restaurant on Tuesday night and he is now home, stable and doing fine. Popovich had a mild stroke in November and missed the rest of the season.
Was a basketball coach at my college and contracted my girl friend to paint the mascot on the hardwood floor. I had no talent but was brought along to help fill in the lines. Pop would come out and chat with us.
5 or so years later I was attending summer league at Loyola Marymount watching the Clippers as I was a Clipper season ticket holder. After their game, I came out of the bleachers and walked up to Pop and Alvin Gentry who were both assistants chatting. Damn if he didn’t remember me and say hi and chat for a bit.
10 or so years go past and I had season tickets at the old Arco behind the basket right next to the visitors tunnel. We were there for a Spurs game and Pop was walking off the floor. Amazingly he saw me and stopped to say hello.
