Petrie should move Bibby

Hello I'm new.

I say give Artest another chance. Bibby/Artest does not work
so we need to get rid of at least one of them. Artest definitely
has more upside now than Bibby.

A good trade that works and makes sense (realGM trade ID 4109471)

Sac out - Bibby
Sac in - Jamaal Tinsley, Jeff Foster (pass first PG, top 15 rebounder)

Indy in - Bibby (Bibby/O'Neal pick and roll = hmmhmmgood)
Indy out - Tinsley, Foster

A not bad looking 10 man rotation could be

Tinsley/Salmons
KMart/Doubylicious
Artest/Cisco
JWillv2.0/Foster (I like Williams as starter here for D)
Hawes/Moore

SAR/Miller can compare butt splinters - Price/Mustafa/PF-C Inactive List

Dump KT

Alternate trade - Bibby out / Andre Miller, Steven Hunter (Philly) in
Substitute A.Miller, Hunter in above roster (realGM trade ID 4109488)

Welcome to kingsfans.com! Happy to be the first to welcome you in. I personally, love your Pacers trade idea, but we'd have a serious logjam in the frontcourt. Foster, Artest, Miller, KT, Shareef, Hawes, Moore and Williams all on the roster wouldn't work. I don't think Petrie would just drop KT for nothing in return... it would cost way too much. We would have to see another deal involving Shareef, Miller or KT (preferably all 3 of them). Plus, it'll be hard to convince Bird to let go of one of his favorite players in Foster.

Then there's the problem of actually convincing another GM to take those guys off our hands.

I'm a huge Foster fan. Can you imagine Williams, Hawes, Moore, Artest and Foster in the frontcourt? Scary good.

Again, welcome!

Hi, ya I agree about shipping out Bibby and giving Ron a chance. Ron can do pretty much everything on the court, hes a gamechanger on defense and hes still in his prime. Obviously he has some baggage, but I can only hope he's trying to make a change. I think that would be a good trade actually I just dont know how the salaries work out. If we could get Foster and Tinsley and ship out some of our old salary cap wastes at F/C the Kings would be much better. Just as long as Tinsley can stay healthy.

sorry but IMHO it isnt a good trade for us... bibby is a much better point guard than tinsley, even in his worst year... and we don't need Foster anymore... I think we already added enough frontcourt help (Williams, Moore, Hawes). Bibby for Damon Jones and Drew Gooden is a better trade IMO, and I'm not even completly sold on this one. I say we keep Bibby and trade Artest (Petrie should've pulled the trigger on the Artest-Maggette swap long ago)...now it's too late.

If we're giving second chances here, why not see if Reggie can get these two to play together, then trade whoever before the deadline...

Steve Francis reportedly said hes now deciding between two teams to join and one of them is the Miami Heat, of course the Heat would prefer Francis and he would be a lot cheaper than Bibby's huge contract. Geoff Petrie also said yesterday that Mike is most likely to be with the team in the opening night as he isn't actively trying to trade him (making phone calls everyday), he just said hes open to phone calls and will talk to everyone.

I think hes trying to trade one of our "bigs", I don't think he'll be dumb enough to trade Bibby without having a solid point guard to replace him.

I don't think it would be "dumb" to not have a supreme replacement for Bibby. A platoon of Douby, Price, Shakur would get minutes for development. Plus we have Artest and Garcia that can initiate offense. It would only be dumb if we were a legitimate playoff team. But on a rebuilding team, not only would there be 30 MPG available for young talent, but it also helps to ensure that we get a top 5 draft pick next year.

What would be dumb is to get rid of Bibby without getting some sort of value in return. Just because Mike had an off year last year doesn't mean we shouldn't try to rehabilitate his image and get some value in a trade.

I am with you on this one. Sheding Bibby's heavy contrac and leaving the PG spot open for the kids makes a lot of sense for a team that in rebuild/development mode. You might get lucky and find out you have a real gem but you will only know it if the kid can get PT... more kids=more possiblitys and you should not have to worry about pouting starters when you divy the min up among the 3 of them. Trading Bibby for expiring contracts is a bit risky and could easilly result in loss of tallent but at this point the Kings HAVE to do something to be able to go out and get a top FA either in 08 or 09!

i like your idea but if we trade away, bibby for tinsley, then i think ron would try to take all the shots, bibby is a proven scorer at times a decent passer thus he commands more respect then jamal t.

I'm OK with Artest taking more shots if they are the right shots (back-to-
the-basket). After all who has proven they can stop him in this capacity?
He's too strong. It all depends on the coaching. If the point guard doesn't
pass the ball to Artest at the wrong times too much, for example top
of the key or perimeter where he jacks up those crazy jumpers. He's more
effective backing down his man, and that will happen if the coach sets up
those types of plays. Besides he was third on team in assists to Bibby,
Salmons (not a bad backup PG choice) and third in shot attempts to Bibby,
Martin, so he isn't quite the ball hog that Bibby was.

That's what I don't like about Bibby is he led the team in shots, mostly
perimeter. A PG should initiate action, make the game easier and such,
like Kidd, Nash. Not shoot most of the teams shots. That is just not
team basketball.

Two of our players fill the lane really well, getting easy shots like dunks
and layups. They are Moore and Hawes (based on summer league).
PGs that can penetrate and dish (hell even JWillv1.0) would make the
team more exciting. What made the team exciting a few years back
was the passing skills of Webb and Vlade, that's why we didn't need
Bibby to be a supreme passer. Brad just wasn't as effective as their
replacement. So Bibby is not an effective PG for the team we have
now.

I have no answer...

Foolish newbie! We won 33 games last year! WHY would we trade anybody??

IN PETRIE WE TRUST. :p

for such a rhetorical question.

Why ask why? I care not to know the answer.

What's odd is a lot of people wanting to stink up a season to get

only a guaranteed 4th pick, who will be an unproven newbie with

potential, rather than get a veteran newbie or more experienced

proven newbie role players and build a team in the mold of say a

San Antonio with Hawes playing the role of an unstoppable post

option like Duncan. Maybe a Mikki Moore, Justin Williams - Oberto

comparison. A defensive stopper say a Bruce Bowen-type like

Ron Artest. A slashing Ginobli-type like Martin. Maybe a Mike

Finley type sixth man like Cisco or Salmons. And an only missing

unstoppable Parker-type point guard piece, like say an AI. No

I guess you're right, why ask why? Let's keep stinking it up.

Hey, remember that Geoff says he thinks the team underachieved last season, so a better coach could maybe get the same squad of malcontents, underachievers and lazy asses to 40 wins, just missing the playoffs. Isn't that something we should strive for? Being just short of mediocre?

I'd rather we build in the mold of Bulls. Martin = Jordan...Cisco = Pippen...and Jwill (2.0) = Rodman. That way, we can win a championship without having the unstoppable point guard...;)
