Petrie proves his genius once again

My dream line-up...
C Brad
PF Stromile Swift
SF Peja
SG Ron Artest
PG Mike Bibby

Add Posey and Watson to the bench ... drool....

I like the way you think. Maybe not Artest anymore, but Swift, Posey, Watson, and also Battier, if only the Grizz would take the guys we just got...

They probably will -- I hear Skinner/Corliss/Thomas is a pretty hot and sought after trio. :)

Now would be the time so say "Well, if anyone can do it, Petrie can." But it's not really the same anymore, I'm still not over it...

Hey, what about this?:

"He is not the Chris Webber who you saw playing at [the University of] Michigan, but he is the Chris Webber who is averaging 21 [points] and [nearly] 10 [rebounds]," Sixers president and general manager Billy King said. "And there are not a lot of guys doing that."

Given that productivity, Petrie was asked about his reasons for trading Webber. Was it Webber's knee, his age, his contract, or all of the above?

"It really comes down to our team is changing," Petrie said. "With the nucleus we had for so long, there is always the sense of wanting it to be the way it was when it can't be the way it was. I think we helped our depth on our front line, which we really needed."

So is it about Webber's knee or not? Check this one out:

>>They believe Webber's body will give out before his contract expires, and thought it best to turn the 62 million dollars over he's owed over the next three years into pieces they could feel safer relying upon.

"This was one of the most difficult, emotional decisions I've been involved with, professionally," Petrie said. "He was instrumental in ushering in an era of basketball in Sacramento that most of the world at that time believed could never happen."<<

So, is it about the knees, or not? Could it be that Petrie subscribes to the Aileen Voisin theory that this trade will enable Peja to find the inner champion that has been eluding him all along?

Don't hold your breath, fans. If Peja had a lion heart, we would be NBA champions now. The rest of the core players don't look too promising in that regard either.

I am a fan. Not a pundit. Who cares what we fans think? Vote with your dollars, fans.
