Peja's game

Peja could've had a 40 pt game with 20 rebounds and some people would still find fault with him and that would take up the whole thread.

Bottom line-For coming off an injury he played a good game for being out so long. Kudos to you Peja.

Laughable.....

If Peja had those stats no one would complain.....now if it was Webber people would :p

Daniela the point is Webber would get Triple-Doubles, we would win, maybe not by much and the local media and some fans would still fault the guy. Same goes with any "superstar" unless they play a flawless game. How often have you seen a flawless game? Only one I can remember is the Walton NCAA championship game, 21-22, which is about as flawless as you can get.

Key thing is we lost. We need Brad back and we need to play some f'in D. All I ask is a stop atleast 50 % of the time. We are some how getting worse on D every week.

Expecting Peja to get a lot of assists is ... well, unrealistic. He does not have the ball in his hands nearly enough to stuff that particular stat, therefore he ends up shooting it himself most of the time. I don't think he's not capable either, he's actually a pretty good passer. It's just that we have players who are better at it than Peja. The Kings offense is designed to get Peja open, not for Peja to open up for others...even though he does open up for others with his constant movement, so everytime you see a man running after Peja and another player pulling away from the man he's guarding to disallow Peja his space, give Peja the assist. His presence alone allows for some easy buckets.

To be honest I dont really care if Peja has any assists. Running the offense in a way to get Peja open is fine with me. Just as long as he scores like he did last night AND rebounds an average of 8 - 10 a game. I dont think 8 rebounds is much to ask from a forward who is 6"10.

8 rebounds per game ? This is Peja we're talking about. Unless the NBA decides to make the game 96 minutes, Peja is not going to average 8 rebounds a game. 5-6, maybe ... 8, nah.

Peja had 1 assist last night. For a second I thought I was watching Steve Nash.

Bibby did not feel like sharing the ball a lot. Pedja did great with the"touches" he was allowed to have. With the way our guards in general and Bibby in particular play D - he will have to be even more efficient for us to win

20 ppg and 7rpg would be perfect but unrealistic at least this season (maybe never)...I don't mind if he has 7/12 or 7/21 as long as he has 6+ freee throws per game......

Exactly my point. There is no reason he shouldnt be getting 8 a game if he gives effort. The fact that he doesnt is the problem people have with Peja.

You know what? That is simply NOT FAIR.

People around here had great fun criticizing Webber for every single thing he said, did, thought, was accused of doing, etc. ON AND OFF the court. Some of us found it unfair and said so, although we did try and be focused on the difference between what happened on the court AND the mistakes he made, and yes he made some, off the court.

Well, that's over because Webber is GONE. Now, the hopes of this franchise are on Peja's shoulders. It is NOT wrong to comment on areas he needs to improve in any more than it was wrong to comment about the games when Webber took too many shots, etc. That's part and parcel of being a fan.

Peja HAS to improve his rebounding if he's going to be who we desperately need him to be. Look at the rebounding figures for ALL the other SF in the league. Some people around here are still pretty emotional about the direction our team is taking, the way things were done, etc. I think for the most part they've been pretty civil with each other and that's a tribute to all of us, whether we were Webber fans, Webber haters, Peja fanatics, Kings homers, etc.

We need to get back to the matter at hand. Every person on the team is fair game for legitimate criticisms. That's what this board has been about for a long time and that's how it's going to stay.

Once I get around to complaining that Peja is holding Eddie House back from his true potential, that he is responsible for Darius being unable to jump, suggest that he be traded to the Wolves for Fred Hoiberg and cap space, and presume to know his interpersonal failings and deficient personal hygiene, then we will be remotely in the neighborhood. ;)

Seems like you got a long way to go, Young Jedi. :)

he did have a much better game than i ever dreamed he would...and a much better outing compared to that of when he came back from the back spasms to face Portland

Thing is guys, no matter how it goes someone is going to miss shots. 1 Night it'll be Bibby, the next night it'll be Peja. We shot 50+% from the field last night and lost. I wouldn't worry about the offence guys. You better worry about the other side of the ball. Stop commenting on the number of points Peja or Bibby puts up because it honestly doesn't matter if we can't stop the other team from scoring. The only problem offensively is the turnovers right now. They need to stop.

Defensively we still need to board better. We are giving up way too many O-rebs especially to Dwight last night. We need to work on our positioning. We got a shot blocker in Skinner who seems to be a smaller but definitely better scoring version of Ostertag. What is he shooting like 75% from the field since becoming a King. We need to just get better defensively. Hopefully it will come with practice and more feel together. You can't expect Rome to be built in a day guys. This is the first Petrie year that he's done mid-season trades, and it looks like our worst year in the last 5 years

. You're right, I swear to god someone argued with me for an hour once that Webb wasn't a "good" rebounder after a game where he had 17 rebounds.

Exactly KP, then who is a good rebounder, only KG and Ben Wallace. Webber wasn't going to fall on the floor to get a rebound but would we want him to, not really. But for his athleticism he got more than his fair share of boards. I'm not going to fault Peja because he usually doesn't play inside but for his size or so it seems he should be getting more boards.

Good post.

Don't know about "the worst year in the last 5 years" yet, let's see how it plays out.
