Are you sure that the rumor is that the deal is dead or is it the deal was the rumor and now it is dead? If not maybe the rumor is false, that it is dead and the deal is actually happening . It might also explain all of the trade talk on this board. Chew on this for awhile.

Iggy Gotcha from the L.A Press says that the deal that was supposed to be dead is not really dead but the rumors that it might be dead isnt really true but dont be surprised if that other deal which some say is false is actually true. Or maybe not. Or maybe so.

Seems most likely that the Lakers offered their Butler & trash boondoggle to us for Peja, Petrie laughed in their face and said make it Odom and we can talk, and the Lakers withdrew. As much as some might think Peja is better than Odom, I think the Lakers are looking at it exactly the other way and are looking forward to beating the crap out of us on the glass with a Mihm/Boozer/Odom/Kobe quartet, and probably still want Odom to play Pippen to Kobe's Jordan (with Boozer as Grant I suspose). Since Kobe doesn't play well with others, Pippen >>>> Odom and MJ >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Kobe, that's not likely to result in a championship, but the structure makes sense.
