Peja a Hornet - agent confirms it

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but NO was one of the few teams under the cap who might have made a run at Bonzi. Peja signing for so much with the Hornets is good for the Kings. Now only the Bobcats, Hawks, Raptors and Bulls are left to possibly overpay Bonzi. Bobcats and Hawks are unlikely because of the youth movement, so really on the Raptors and Bulls. Signing Bonzi or a S&T is getting more and more likely.

Pretty surprising.

I know Indiana couldn't come up with a better offer, but how close could they get to that NO offer? Was there any concrete offer made at all?

Don't think so on the Bulls as they have Deng/Nocioni/Sefolosha/Khryapa/Gordon for SG/SF, then you got Hinrich playing off the ball and Duhon/another PG runnign the point. They'll spend their money a big man.

Raps have Mo Pete/Tucker (similar player to Bonzi)/Graham/Bargnani to play SG and SF. I'd think all of them stay.

wow, reading that article made me hate peja even more than i already did. now i just can't wait until the schedule comes out so i can get my tickets to the sac - new orleans game. i will be there to welcome peja with a big boo and wearing my stojakovic monarchs jersey. this is clearly a guy thats in it all for the money and has no love for the game. a sprained pinkie??? eff this guy

Er...too much money to pass up on his last big contract. If you're on a title contender, maybe. But he's exchanging one 40 win club for another, and getting vastly overpaid to the tune of $64 mil to do it. Given that sort of number, don't think the Pacers were really in the bidding. They were probably thinking maybe $45-$50.

What and you don't think ANY other player out there would have done the same. Please!!!!!

He is leaving one 40 win team for another and getting a LOT more money because of it. Anyone that says its not about the money is a liar. They ALL want the money. If the offers were compareable, I would expect Pedja to sign with Pacers but by all reports there was daylight between the 2 offers. Are you telling me you would have done any different if you were in his situation?????

I would find that VERY hard to believe.

Not that my team didn't benefit, but this agent helped to lubricate two trades for Artest and Wilcox only to lead his boyz elsewhere. I wonder how that effects teams' willingness to acquire his players in the future. I guess you take the money and ask questions later.

This is quite laughable. I'm supposed to believe that you would say no to big money and stay loyal to someone? Please...

If you haven't noticed it's all about the money. You must be in denial.

Why are people getting mad at Peja for leaving the Pacers to get more money from the Hornets? I would do the same and I'm pretty sure a lot of you would too. Its not like the Pacers were some championship team on the rise of winning a title.

IMO Peja is not that much better than a player like Wally Szczerbiak.

At this point- i would have to agree

Man, they are really acting like they got Chandler... just not announced yet... over at the RGM boards. Already putting him in all their line-ups and stuff, guess we'll have to see later on.

Still sticking by how I feel about Chandler for them though.

I can't blame Peja for following the money, it was a business move. It again allows him to start anew, and who knows, with the young Paul alongside him Peja could excel there. If Jackson signs there too, then maybe a familiar face could motivate Peja to bust his butt. I do feel bad for Indy fans though.. they are the ones who got screwed.

are the threads getting screwed up or is this just becoming the hornet thread in general.

Don’t feel too jealous that he got a nice contract Peja haters... That’s a fair contract, he gave us his best.

Wow, I can't believe the hate for Peja. Why shouldn't he take this money to go play for what appears to be a very promising Hornets team? Most of his tenure in Sac, he was generally seen as underpaid (Bobby, too.) We were lucky to have them both during their best years and I wish them both the best.

If the money difference were minimal, maybe he would have stayed in Indiana. Like I say, we really got the best deal. Had Peja during his best years for a really reasonable salary and got Artest when we traded him. Hard to beat that.

not much to be jealous about. had the kings not traded peja for ron artest, we'd be watching him walk away this offseason, because kings management is nowhere near stupid enough to sign him for $60 million plus. it'd be tough to swallow the loss of peja and the possible loss of bonzi wells in the same offseason.

I don't understand all this talk "thats too much". Do people realise that every FA signing IS overpad. Is Chadler worth 10 million per season? What about Dalembert at 8 million? Should we talk about whether Joe Johnson is a MAX type of player?

I mean seriously people, I can't remember the last big name FA that hasn't been overpaid to be lured by a team. The last one I remember was SAR last year but who was the one before him that was signed for a what you considered to be fair amount of money.

Majority of the NBA players ARE overpaid so whats the differece here. Peja hardly relies on his athleticism and speed to get his shot off. He won't decline as fast as people think. Even when he is 35 he will still be a good shooter.

overpaying players in general is not a big deal. Overpaying Pedja is a crime around here

I have no hate for Peja, and I'm glad he got his money.

That said I'm thrilled we got rid of him when we did and this just reinforces that x10.
